The difference between the Carmack and Rutan teams is likely significant - to balance it out, I would bet that Rutan would have a hell of a time building a top-notch first-person shooter...

Why does everyone find this so difficult to understand? I never claimed that MS ISN'T blocking XFree86. I only claim that we also don't know if they ARE blocking it. You can't know unless you see their actual code. It could be one of a hundred schemes, some malicious, some not. Don't you think that with the millions of search terms out there, it would be strange if certain things WEREN'T blocked by accident?

  13. Paranoids out there on MSN Search Blocking Results For XFree86? · · Score: 4, Insightful

    Paranoids,

Blocking XFree86 is not an indication of concious effort by Microsoft to divert traffic. Perhaps their blocking software has the following algorithm:

For terms that have been searched for more than 10,000 times, block the term if the first letter is X and the second letter is a consonant.

As you can see, this search doesn't consciously target XFree86. And XFree85 and XFree87 probably wouldn't meet the 10,000 criteria.

Wouldn't you think that anyone who knows what XFree86 is would not be detered by MSN anyway?

Actually, your view of the world is unrealistic.

95% of the people out there are actually nice and generally non-violent, but they are mearly pawns in a big chess game run by the powerful who care little for individuals on the battle field.

Power changes hands all the time. If you build a large military structure and a mass of weapons, they will eventually be used, and the two men shooting at each other don't hate each other. They are both pawns of evil people at the top playing games with their lives. There is no "we must defend ourselves against them". In actuality, we must remove the scum that parasitizes humanity and manipulates everyone into war for profit.

"Most typing is done by the fingers, and even spaces are generally typed by only one thumb by most people. There could be one or more new buttons under the space bar, doubled for both thumbs. They could be shift or alt or ctrl, and/or a macro key for converting the characters on the keyboard to programming characters ({};", etc) or other application specific characters. Try hold your unused thumb down below the space bar - it's much easier than using your pinkies on the shift/alt/ctrl keys."
