Did you look at the Readme? The main purpose of this script is to convert a colo server that is installed with Redhat or the like by default, BEFORE you modify it. It will make backups of you configuration and data, but running this script on an in-use server is an unrealistic scenario unless you don't mind some downtime setting things up again.

Try to find an ISP that provides Debian colo's. There aren't many.

You missed the point entirely. Microsoft's business model is to charge for their products. They make billions of dollars from this, so they provide the support for free.

Linux is not a product or a company - it is free, almost a natural resource. So a third party will come in and charge for support for those individuals who WANT it for the FREELY available Linux.

It's like complaining about the helicopter skiing company that charges for rides up an isolated mountain, when a ski resort provides the lift rides for free once you buy your ticket. whatever. Why do I waster my time. You are obviously a troll.

I may sound naive here, but I'm curious why this type of work is limited to forms. In fact, why are we still stuck with the "stateless" paradigm? Wouldn't it make sense to create a general GUI frontend that maintains a connection with the server? I know you are thinking Java, but I'm thinking something much thinner than that - just a front end GUI, perhaps more like X windows than Java, but accessible through a browser. There must be something wrong with this idea, or else this would be the direction we're headed, right? The whole document/hyperlink/form thing is so played out...

They could honestly not find the link for the free download, and didn't even realize that there was one.

Why does anyone serve Real files at all? What I don't get is why PUBLICLY FUNDED organizations like NPR use Real which block saving the files instead of providing MPEGS available for download.

I don't think that violence or sex should be censored or controlled, but I can guess why the public is biased against sex: Violent activity is generally punished severely by law enforcement and society, so there is a safeguard against exposure to children - the fear of punishment for repeating the acts seen on screen. Most sexual activity is not punished, or punished lightly, so children are much more likely to repeat what they see. While sexual dangers are less worrisome than violent dangers, they are still dangers, so the public wants some kind of protection.

BUT - just so you don't get the wrong idea here, I totally disagree with any censorship or rating systems - I'm just looking into the unconcious thoughts of the public.
