Well the difference is that RH mostly tries to get those changes back in to the mainline. And many RH devs are working close with upstream.
Google on the other hand just got kicked out because they showed no interest.
The minor advantage over one or the other is moot.. because unless you've got something of actual importance (in which case it shouldn't be on your home computer) no one is going to go through the bother of trying to break in either way.
Thats what poor Kenneth Haywood thought, but fate has its own turns and twists.
Agreed that a chance of a terrorist using your connection to send threat emails is quite low, but how about a spammer or an identity thief? Or just an angry X Lover?
Yah but obviously you are missing the difference in living cost.
Socially acceptable (and considered good) living conditions are achievable with these salaries in India.
Minimum wedge in "Federal" US means probably some dingy old apartment and living on free food from Mcdonalds.
BTW: Can you afford a full time housekeeper on minimum wedge in US?
I mean they not only bundle the firfox on default cd, but also OO.org and bunch of others.
And no, giving it free does not make them immune.
And what about KDE? as a project they don't support anything but integration with konqueror. (well not entirely true, but they still bundle it by default)
Hey common it would happen anywhere in the world.
Try spreading anti-microsoft pamphlets in a microsoft conference and you will be escorted out by a security team. And will be "manhandled" if you refuse to.
None of the photos show any kind of unnecessary violence. Unless those photos were deleted as said in TFA.
For US$1 ~ INR 50, you can get 2 or 3 solid meals at an average restaurant/fast food place. In US, 1 dollar gets you a can of coke or a small 100gm back of chips.
Do the math.
Well you are slightly off.
I would rather say a $3 ~ 150INR gives you a good meal at middle standrand indian restaurant, a good stylish restaurant will still cost you around ~300INR (PIZZ huts, McDownelds etc) and a really good one will cost you around 700-1500 INR + equivalent for drinks.
Ofcourse more options are always options are always there to take care of the poorest and the richest... but this is what a typical upper middle class is faced with.
Agreed though its still a lot cheaper than US.
I checked and rechecked Trolltech site for license...
If you chose GPL'ed version of QT, it is "GPLed" with just one exception, if you _do_ have the porprietary license and develop qt app, you can link this app with GPL'ed qt and need not open your source.
But apart from the exception.... it is _GPLed_ and as long as you stick to gpl nothing prevents you from distributing qt with your app...
Windows users are running whatever came installed on their Dell/Gateway/HP machine.
You don't really get India mentality. Nobody (consumers atleast) buys dell/hp/gateway except for laptops. Most of the machines delivered at homes are hand assembled by local supplier who buys motherboards and other stuff in bulk. They have zero knowledge and just install pirated copies of windows to "test" the machine and deliver.
We at PLUG:- Pune Linux User Group (Pune is a mid size city in central india.) have very less resistance in installing linux on the PC's we find at our grasp as long as whatever software the person wanted the pc for is provided on linux. Games are the most problamatic feature of a standard windows pc however and we so far have no solution for it. Transgaming/wine are all ok but unfortunately they don't garuntee all the games on a "1500 games mania" dvd bought for under 500Rs (20USD) will run.
I do this regularly at work, i just keep a omnidirectional mic attached and unmuted while i have my headphones on...
I can actually then select levels of alertness according to my mood, by changing mic gain.
is this a what (paid)members see? may be its being shown to everyone by mistake?
I always wished hard to find out (without paying any money of course) how do they inform the paid members of an slashdot story about to be released early...
Wishes _do_ come true is it?
NO! GPL or no GPL, making software is expensive matter. If you write a code and give it away for free, you lose on your time without any gain. barring the philosophical gain of shared knowledge is more than original.
Now if you are a BSD guy you are just giving away your wallnuts for free, beacuse you have plenty and you own the tree neway. But you _do_ end up having less wallnuts. Someone might say that you can take the wallnuts for free (as without paying anything) but if you plant a tree you have to offer your wallnuts for free to others on the same conditions. This way you still lose your wallnuts but in the end when everyone has enough wallnut trees you get a huge benifit too.
Same goes with software, i can give something i have for free, or i can say that its still free but you also have to give anything you produce from it for free under same restrictions.
Clear?

Interestingly thats how british took over india some 200 years ago

it's useless to know pi to more than 50 digits in this universe
I think you are confused, repeat after me ... "This is SsLlAaSsHhDdOoTt, universe has nothing to do with it"
Well actually the nm-applet from gnome worked fine for me until i discovered the plasmoid.
We will just have to wait.
