I think thats very much the reason or atleast from everything I've read. From what I understand they have been giving back code to gcc that fits into gcc design.

On a side note. You'll have to design completely new passanger jets.Its not like you can strap a bigger engine to 777 frame and just go. Hell even the skin of the plane would start to melt off.
Actually its kinda funny but the FAA equivalent in germany (the DFS) is privatized and has looked into the possability of running linux in there ATC systems (small parts at first).

Not really no. Most of the power that gets sold into the us in the east comes into niagra mohawk which is right near the border of canada (multiple cites along the border).
BC to southern california is certainly a distance but not nearly the distance from buffalo to LA which is what the thread is about. transfering energy across large distances.
See the question I have is. How much intensive computing are you going to be donig on the road? I mean yeah 266 is slow but its good enough for most things.

They optimized XLC for intel at all. I knew they did for the PPC but not intel.

Your right but if you ever have a PSU go on you and takes out the motherboard and graphics card. You'll pay more attention to which PSU you put in.
