No that is not what I said but there is a difference between art and doing work that you are getting paid for. If you are working and getting paid then that is your reward. You have no rigth to call it art. The Mona Lisa is art. It has a very high value tied to it, but the artist never saw any of htat value. He created it because of his love of the creation of it, not because he was going to make big money for it. I see nothing wrong with getting paid for art, but to get rich off of something and doing it for the soul purpose of getting rich is not art. If you write a program for the sheer joy of writing that program, becuase you twist code into beautiful prose, then that is art. But if you write a program that you are writing to just finish a project or because you have the soul desire to get rich and nothing more than you have crossed over to just doing for a totally different reason. I realize that years down the line you don't know what the purpose behind something was and some things become intrinsically artisitic and valuable, but to say that Britney Spears is an artist just makes me sick because art is the furthest thing from her mind. Perhaps in the beginning it was but what she does now adays has nothing to do with art.

  21. Re:Pirate to Pirate? on Curing a Corporate Virus Infection · · Score: -1, Troll

A true artist cares nothing of return. They give their art freely for the love of it. A capitalistic whore who wants to make money off of gifts given freely to them by God is not an artist. Van Gogh did not get rich off his art. He did it because he loved doing it not because he made millions. If he got enough to eat and get high he was a happy man. Unfortunately there are no true artists today. Just people looking to make a buck. There are Indies out there that are a million times better than the crap you hear on the radio and they love what they are doing even if they don't make money and they freely give of what they create. These are true artists. I agree people should make money for what they do. But the people on the radio are musicians they are not artists, we should not lose site of what true art is.

I know I tell people all the time when they call, I work tech support for an ISP, how the reason for their pop-up and spyware and other assorted problems is because of security problems with IE. I am just one person so I doubt that I would have much of an impact, but I bet there are a lot of tech support reps out there doing the same thing because they are getting tired of all the calls.
