no no no 6*9 is correct from the book tv show etc. it is bad math based on the fact that its arthur pulling the tiles out and he has some golgafrinchian (sp?) in him, which would alter the result
the interesting thing isn't which planet gets less or more, but why they get less or more.
mars gets the most because its the closest that might be able to support its own life
europa isn't a planet but it still gets points for life, however its farther than mars
venus is close but doesn't have a chance of life as we think of it. Venus does however have excellent energy harvesting/producing possibilities as soon as we are more space capable
I'm a huge fan of Douglas Adams and have read all his works, but i'm not really very excited about this movie. The radio series was great and so were the books sure, but the TV series was a flop, and this movie has been in the works for so long its really a joke. If they were making the entire series into movies i'd be much more excited but i've already seen the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy in every form of media except movie.
what i'd really like to see is a movie based on his either his dirk djectly charactor or one of his books about him "dirk djently's slightly holistic detective agency" or "the long dark tea time of the soul" I think they're at least as good as any of the hitchhikers books, and much more easily adaptable to movie form. The main problem of course is how little sense they tend to make, but i'm sure details could be ironed out
why is this modded up to a 3? theres a link to the site with this information in the story tag and link to the page with that exact info posted before this.
anyone else notice how bbc news omited "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" and "The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul" from their list of other notable works...
i gree I've been playing for just a few months myself and didn't realize it was so much exercise till i started getting good. now i'm in better shape than i would have been (not to mention wowing all my non DDR friends)
I'm so sick of non metric US measurments who cares about an 80 ounce cup!!! i want 5 deciliters or 2.5 liters or something! coca cola has gotten a little better by making their bottles come in 1/2 a liter (no not 5 deciliters or 500 mililiters/sigh)
As a caption under a picture in this article they say "The removed slice was approximately three inches long. Based on the Vinland map's estimated value of $20 million this slice would be worth approximately $40,000" this seems to raise one main question to me. who is going to buy "A small strip of what might have been the first map of North America (map may not have been first and strip contains no portions of anything like a map)". This question leads me to the question of will they buy it from a random person on ebay... to get more serious i hate it when people say things like this. Thats the sort of nonsense trivia i hated in grade school and hate now no one in the world needed them to write that
i know iceland has the right setting to power itself with geothermal... i meant this as general guide not iceland specific, its pointless for one of the smallernations in the world to get off fossil fuels if all the others stay on. Also wind generators are kinda like big wind mills that turn turbines instead of mills
hey just a thought black parrot but you should probly stick to powers of 2... we all know how binary works right... 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 etc sorry blackparrot but i'm doubting you'll get your 640 bit processor but keep wishing.
Geothermal isn't ready to power a nation very well they would be better off investing in wind generators ( no they do NOT generate wind ). In my opinion geothermal is going to be the next big source of power but not till we're drilling holes to hell and having demons turn our turbines er that is drilling down 1/2-3/4 of the way through the crust and using the earth as an effectivly infinite source of heat.
Hmm so if theres less an less chance of finding intelligent life on a non earth planet... then *gasps* when are we gonna find the super hot anime cat women?!?!?!
it doesn't matter that the payload is "only" 3,000 lbs. besides the fact that thats quite a bit you've gotta remember that these planes are cheap and unmanned, meaning one person could easily fly a dozen of them or more. So how about instead of 3 F-18's that only require three enemy missles to neutralize we send in a couple dozen X-45's. Also this could eliminate quite a bit of human error in formations and so forth.

I think John was trying to point out that all animals must interact with some other species in order to survive (single cells don't count) so what if we end up creating an animal that has to be raised by us to survive. selective breeding has already largly done that with other species. errr for instance most dogs we keep as pets are rather docile and weak compared to wolves (no i don't want an arguement about environment VS DNA) anyway its fine if they need us to reach maturity we need them to eat!

it seems like amateur astronomy has gone onto the back burner for kids these days. Finally! an excuse to find and set up my old telescope
For the record the big bang is rather simple to visually replicate in your own home.
1. Get a black conical bathtub and fill it with white sand and/or sugar.
2. Film the sand/sugar draining out after the plug has been pulled.
3. Then, and this is the clever part, play it backwords.
there goes my plan to play all the baldur gate and icewind dale games without sleeping

mononoke was brilliant and certainly the best anime i've ever seen in a theatre i hope i'm not expecting to much but this should be incredible
