    If my father-in-law's MD would have had such a system handy, then maybe he would have been diagnosed much earlier for melanoma on his foot sole. As it was, the doctor thought it was something else, and he wasn't treated until it really was too late.

    The advancement is not that it is better than a dermatologist, but that it can be added to a system that is easier to access than a dermatologist. We really need the dermatologist after the diagnosis for therapy and treatment.

    So it seems that we now need data scientists to do things with data that were supposed to be done by OLAP systems, i.e. find correlations between dimensions that were not supposed to be trivial? Data mining?

    There are authors and authors, and some age better than others. I used to be amused by THGTTG, and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, but that it is a long time ago. So, for me, Douglas Adams does not age as well as Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Pratchett is (was) wittier and seemed to understand technology much better, while Gaiman's work in the fantasy realm is unmatchable (American Gods vs. The Long Dark Tea-time of the Soul).

    Damn, no more mod points today. But I have also always been of this thought. If the army really wanted to get Erdogan, then they would have gotten him. What I mostly suspect is that minions of Erdogan were able to influence some hot-headed officers into a rash decision.

    Same impression for me. And I have been listening to heavy metal since 1982, none of the pop music for me.

    My currently two favorite bands are Muse and QOTSA.
