I guess they will have to generate income off the originals. The new movies certainly were a disappointment. One can only hope the third will compensate for the first two movie's inadequecies.
I was kind of hoping that one of these vendors would step up to bat in the Linux world. But I guess that I am one of many, especially here in/. world. I just hope these windows cards are less buggy than the ATI ALL-In-Wonder cards have traditionally been. Time will tell!
I have to agree with you. With Freevo, MythTV and other free alternatives, they are going to have to do more than this. I watch television to relax, not to play. The monthly subscription service really will have to offer more for me to buy into it before I choose it over the free alternatives.
Good question. Microsoft did not have an anwer either. The re-activation would not work no matter how many times we tried it over the phone. We went through a variety of different options and nothing worked. Microsoft recommended for me to re-install a fresh copy.

That is great that you have deployed it on all those machines and have experienced good luck. I wish you further good fortune. That was not my experience though.
I have had to reactivate machines in the past, and yes, I have chosen the online method. It sometimes has failed and had to go through the 800 number. This time it was even worse. I spoke to the 800 number people over in India, went though the long string of numbers, re-entered their numbers a few times and it still did not work. I went through many "Real Live People (tm)" in India and one in Canada. I had no luck and no answers were given to me. I eventually had to reinstall, enter the new product keys given to me and reactivate windows over the internet.......This was not a "You say/speak the code into your phone, and the system reads back an auth code. Bam, done." situation.....
They were not relaxed about it with me. They kept on giving me the third degree. I personally did not appreciate being treated like that when I am actually one of the few people probably out there that actually has legal copies of their software. I would have had an easier time just loading up the cracked versions than dealing with MS support.
Yes, I called the US activation number that pops up on the screen. I live in the United States. I only talked to and was transferred to people from India. The same went for support also, but the higher levels of support in India transferred me to someone in Canada after a few people could not help me then transferred me back to India.

I had to call Micrsoft support, spoke to numerous tech support and activation department employees before they gave me a new product key which could be re-activated. I felt like I was getting interrogated as to why I was re-activating the software even though I had valid and legal copies. It appears as if Microsoft has almost completely off-shored major portions of their company to India. The way I fixed the computer was to completely reinstall everything on the computer. I have not seen a Micrsoft release that has had more problems and instability than this release of Windows XP and Office 2003.

I have the same experience as a dual engineering major in EE, CE and ME. I witnessed an even higher number of students dropping out or changing majors. Engineering is one of the toughest majors out there and employers don't seem to recognize that fact. Often employers bundle the engineering degrees with Information Technology and other certifications. It is a shame.
I guess my grammar school was ahead of their time teaching us to learn typing on typewriters in third and fourth grade. They told us it was to prepare us at a young age for the high tech world we would be living in the future where typing skills would be essential for everyone. How right they were.............
The problem is not with the price of the service being offered. Yes, it does sound like a decent price....but.....the problem is that if the Universities don't comply, then they will be faced with extortion tactics in the form of legal action. This tactic could potentially cost the University much much more than simply signing up for the service. I am sure the Universities are reading between the lines. This appears to be extortion in its purest form and that is not how our country should allow things to operate.
I do not care to go through my long story about my Comcast experience. To make a long story short, I have to contact the Governor or New Jersey and the Public Utility Commision to get resolution. But, you can only get that 19.99 rate if you cancel service for 6 months and then come back.
