Sadly, being an American obviously holds little value to you. I hesitate to ask why you stay
umm...where in the post does it say being an American has no value? The person stated that they are merely becoming just another American. Becoming "just another" of anything isn't exactly a good thing.
I think you take you patriotism way to seriously. Chill!!
The only interaction I want with commercials is when i press fast forward. Actually, I don't want to interact with them at all if possible.I know what I want and Amazon.com servers my need for reviews quite well.
I'd like to commend you on a great job. It is quite inspiring to someone like you do their own thing and be successful. Keep doing what you're doing man.
Maybe all those talented individuals in California can actually form a development company of their own? You know, produce something that is worth buy and have their pick of distributors to choose from. You want to keep your job? Create value in yourself...create a business! We all know it is hard but come on, few have become millionaires without having to work hard and make sacrifices. Stop bitching and whining I say. My current job is not definite but I tell you what if I were to leave I'll be OK nit because I'm loaded but because there are so many people out there that know what I am capable of that would love to have me work for them. Not only that but I have a business of my own that hopefully will generate some revenue next year.
Frankly, I'm tired of people whining and complaining about outsourcing. It is really getting old.
I think it is the environment they are in more so than their parents directly helping them with the projects. One advantage all these kids seem to have is they have smart, loving, and nurturing parents (not that I said parents and not parent). I think we should all strive to provide that type of environment for our kids.
Was I the only one that got the feeling that they were trying to sell me OptimalJ? Although I agree with the lack of "skilled" Java develoeprs I really can't their numbers seriously as they are quite lacking in the credibility department.
At 700/800 dollars how can it possibly kill the iPod? Come on, they aren't even the same market segment. I know this and I'm not even a "Licensing Engineer." I think they should be targeting the same crowd that buys portable DVD players and such because your average Joe will expect their "iPod Killer" to STAFT for 700/800 dollars. Honestly, where do they get off? If they are smart they would be going after auto manufactures.
I realize this but did you ever think that I might not want to be called every time they want software installed?
I have educated my average Joes and Janes about the dangers of installing software. With Lindows they only install what is available through click and run which is definitely a good thing.
I just install Lindows on a family member's computer because they were sick of all the pop ups and spyware. Lindows is the real deal as far as ease of use. The whole click and run thing worked out nicely. Indeed, Linux as prgressed very fast.
Knoppix is nice too but it had minor problems.
p.s. I know about synaptic and such and I think click and run is easier your average joe.

Once you go IPO things definitely change. Makes you wonder why such a profitable company wants to expose itself to the vultures at wall street? I mean really, they don't need to compete with MS and Yahoo because they already have a brand name that is more recognized and highly thought of. Googling is now synonymous with Internet searching.
If you've ever accepted financial aid you are on the hook. Besides, computer specialists don't exactly involve having to do real combat. I imagine you'll be operating things from proxy. It would be like playing video games except you might be coordinating real Tanks and Apaches.
Speak for yourself. This thing is garbage and not worth the god damn $400 asking price IMO! Notice that I said IMO. When I want to buy PVR, I don't want a god damn computer with 2 gig of ram and screaming CPU. All I really want is a device that is affordable and does the job, which is to record my TV shows and shit. If it can access my network shared drive and play some of my divx/mpeg files that would be great (actually that is a must nowadays). What I don't want to do is spend $400 on a bare bone box like this digimagica thingy and then buy a CPU, memory, and a hard drive. This will probably push the cost to $700 or more.
Your average Joe wants a device like TiVO that can record their favorite show and be able to play their favorite divx/mpeg files on their shared drive.

If you are using your real identity on the net then you deserved to be mined, and maybe even probed.
Honestly, the only time I use my real name and real information is when I buy something online and if those I buy stuff from give my information away without my consent then they are liable.
It is simple really, it is a pay me world and I want to get paid. I think I'll be happy doing whatever so long as it pays well and I can live comfortably. Of course the hour worked is also a quality look for in a job. I don't exactly want to spend my weekends working.
And that is when people start looking towards better search engines that give them more relevant results. Yahoo is setting itself up to fail IMO if it is true that they want to tangle paid results with actually results. I mean how are they going to compete with google whilst doing that? Their objective right now is to supplant google and I don't see how they can do that with this scheme.
It would be logical to not let anyone buy WLS if the domain name is insured.
Frankly I'm for the FCC canning ICANN and VeriSign and taking over the management of internet domain name registration/assignment. It is ridicules to have these two organizations work in sync to protect their monopoly.
If your goal is to "survive" then you are not the type of a person employers are looking for. In all honesty there are a lot of techies out there right now out of a job because their objective in school was to "survive." Coding is an art form and is stressful. You don't naturally become a good coder/developer over night. You have to spend lots of time doing the work and just mucking about. More importantly, you HAVE to want to gain knowledge on your own not because the professor tells you to do this homework/project.
Saying it is "beyond me" tells me that you have given up getting better at it. I suggest you find something you are good at. Maybe information systems will provide you with satisfaction.
The feature set of the Canon is just unbelievable. I'll definitely have to read the manual because I'm discovering new things every day.
Here is a pic I took of my cube with it. This is using low resolution but it still looks great for a $200 camera.

Few years ago I would have gotten excited but alas I have gotten old and bored with the repetitiveness of it all.

Good Luck.
If it is on one chip, it is one CPU. I'll be damned If I'm going to pay more.
All it takes is a few disgruntled or honest employees.

They never do!!!!!!!!
The life cycle of an American car is:
11 * 25000 miles = 275000 miles
Where as the typical lifecycle for a Toyota, Honda, or a Nissan is:
25 * 25000 miles = 625000 miles
How many old Fords do you see on the road?
