Sorry but Debian installation is a pain in the ass. The average user can't install it.

If you can't f'ing install it you can't evaluate its superiority. Mandrake is by far the easiest distro to install. Until Debian is as easy to install I don't think it will ever get bigger Linux market share. If you want to give a taste of Debian to average user your best bet is to give them a Lindows CD.

    $150 - CPU - AMD XP 2800

    $110 - HD - IBM/Matrox
    $60 - Burner - LiteOn

$70 - Sound card - TB Santa Curz
$150 - Video Card - Take your pick midrange nVidia or ATI.
    $70 - Memory 512MB PC3200.

All quality products at super low cost.

Oh, and that last line about AMD having more credibility is just one of the most stupidest things I have ever heard. I don't buy Macs because of the $$$ and I pack a AMD chip but to say something like AMD has more credibility is very silly.

It is good to see that the old adage of "like assholes, everyone has an opinion" hold true.

Of course you don't wan to alienate yourself from your co-workers. If you invite the boss you have to invite some of the co-workers. Both OS X and Linux lack the support of game developers. The two OS's are stuck in a viscous cycle of developers not wanting to produce games for them because of low market shares, and the OS's not being able to gain enough user base to demand games on the platforms.
