I'm surprised that the slash-dot group really liked this series. I know I found it frothy, heavy on the ol' special effects (I had the feeling that SOMEONE in the production team got a new non-linear editing system and just absolutely had to play with every possible feature.
I've disliked Nova increasingly over the past few years - all the re-enactments (Gallileo for example) - they've gotten all touchy-feely. I have this awful thought that liberal-arts people, who are intrinsicly afraid of technology, would rather do dramas than do hard looks at science.
No. his point was that he thinks he could produce something more boring and terse for the public.
leave us alone. Go read the cryptic equations and maybe someday produce your own string theory show without computer visuals . You could sit there on a chair with your monotone voice and read from a book all the sting theory equations. Nice and boring just the way you like it. Nobody would care or would watch.
It is a must download if you missed it because they explain string theory and what might have occured at the moment of the big bang or even if there was one. Nice explanations and good visual examples.
One of the best Pbs shows in years.
Now all we need is a once a week, one hour show about leading edge Sciences and Technology.
It will be interesting to see what the US corporate/republican/microsoft administration will say if the EU takes the hard line against them.
Also funny about the tariffs is that Bush was all to happy throwing away all those IT jobs to india but helping out the steel industry. Was it for votes in key states ?
Lets shake up the radio spectrum with broad WiFi range so we can all get affordable broadband access instead through cable or dsl. The only news of Wi-Fi and broadband is usually about Starbucks.
Linux is taking marketshare from all the Unix Os. This could be why even Sun has bought a Sco/linux ip license. These companies are very afraid of Linux. Look at what Linux has done to SUN. It has destroyed them and it will put Sco out of business to because of the superiority of Linux. This is SCO's last hope. Their other business,Caldera OS was a failure.
Lets try and find who their top LINUX/SCO IP license customers are and put some pressure on them by emailing them not to pay any licensing fees. Another idea would be to warn them of boycotts of their product.
I know of two companies that have paid the license fee- Sun microsystems and Microsoft. There are probably some other fortune 500 companies.
If you know of any post them here. Lets form some citizen action group against SCO bullying while IBM and the other Linux operating system companies try the legal route.
I like it. I also like the widescreen with Qwerty keyboard. These could take marketshare from the ultrathin pc's . If the price is around 200-300 dollars then I may buy one.

Yes he could.
clean coal is being worked on still.
Saw an article on it in Wallstreet journal couple months ago.
Theres a plant that makes it .

It was scrapped because of budget deficits back in the early 90's.
Do we have more budget deficits ? yes.
We could also build a distributed network supercomputer using plain regular desktops. It might rival the BLUE GENE.
It was EXCELLENT.

i wonder if it has to do with a website taking legal action because they want all the hits.
What can we do about slashdotting ?
,lets cache the front page of the website atleast .
Come on Commander Taco...in case of slashdotting
Does anyone else agree ? Enough emails to Taco and maybe he will do it.
What do you do with it ?
this is the second man made virus.
This is a demonstration of technical skills.
I think this is positive unlike other messages here.
A virus that will cure cancer ? Technique used to create nano machines ?
Why was post moderated to troll.
Whoever moderated me down should be metamoderated.

All that software that would need replacing like Quake 3 and madden football.
How about all that hardware linux can't run. A whole bunch.......NOT.
Give me a break.
Who modded you as interesting.
All you Windows Haters out there better wake the fuck up and realize Microsoft has won.
Won what ? Was there a contest to begin with ?
I could win every contest if i bought out the judges too.
Have you noticed Suns stock price lately?
Have you noticed that more companies are ditching Sun systems and going with linux systems.
Sun had to make the transistion. They are late to the game.
i will drop them an email. thanks.

Not advertising. Survival.
So, who is going to end up with the old SysV rights after SCO goes belly-up after this?
I guess they would sell it just like any company assets from bankruptcy.
What would be the consequences of SCO selling them to, say, Microsoft as part of their dying breath?
Aix from IBM seems to be invulnerable to SCO when they stripped their Unix License last month.
linus is taking too much marketshare from the unix operating systems and not as much from windows.

At protecting your identity ? Autonomous filesharing.
earthstation5
Slashdot article on Kazaalite
Yahoo filesharing directory. list of p2p clients
freenetproject
Rant - I hope freenet gets faster. But probably never will because of its design. And java is difficult to run on my pII 266 32 meg comp.
New filesharing programs may be needed . Keep an eye out.
6 -8 hundred ? I would rather have a laptop.
I am cheap.
