It always comes back to raising the value of STOCKS for the shareholder.
If your a CEO and fire half the employees at your company and offshore the rest the jobs(sprint) and your stock price goes up because you cut cost then your considered a genius by Forbes,Fortune and CNBC(kudlow&cramer), the non-caring-zero social values capitalist types.
Darl is doing what all Wall Street companies do play mind games with shareholders and media and raise those STOCK PRICES up.
EVD can display hdtv which dvd can not. The picture quality is 5 times better !
I think this is a good thing. If Hollywood doesn't support it then maybe independents producers might. A HDTV recordable version using blue lasers would be very cool.
EVD. Maybe too little too late. Instead copying DVD , how about getting ahead of the market and make something alot of us videophiles really want . Recordable hdtv.

There must be MORE action against SCO than just legal manuevers. We must be more ORGANIZED to fight this pariah of a company.
Microsoft and Sun microsystems are two companies that have paid a SCO IP/SCAM license. We know Microsoft could care less but what about SUN microsystem ? Are they in with Linux or against ? If the Linux enterprises could put some sort of pressure on SUN not to pay that license then that would a public black eye for SCO. It could start 'snowballing' into something better like a big hit on their stock which would also cause a negative cascade since they use stock pricing for leverage in this whole mess.
KEY quotes from the article that boycotting is working ! We need more though !
"We are informed that participants in the Linux industry have attempted to influence participants in the markets in which we sell our products to reduce or eliminate the amount of our products and services that they purchase. They have been somewhat successful in those efforts and similar efforts and success will likely continue. There is also a risk that the assertion of our intellectual property rights will be negatively viewed by participants in our marketplace and we may lose support from such participants. Any of the foregoing could adversely affect our position in the marketplace and our results of operations. "

I skimmed over the article but I didn't see an actual photo so they may not have built this microcopter but the counterrotating blades are not as efficient like insect flight. Flapping wings use vortices for lift and are very efficient.
If anybody remembers the great TLC channel show 'Connections' will connect the dots here and see that SEIKO is a watch company and their microcopter looks a bit like a watch. Interesting. But more of a novelty .
While Dell is making the big bucks Gateway has been laying off people. This is why they are interested in expanding into electronic products like Flatpanel displays(gateway displays are inexpensive but not hdtv) and into cameras and mp3 players. This company is in serious decline. Although their laptops get good props from Cnet and pcworld. Getting into servers only makes sense since they HAVE to diversify.
So is the reason for the Peoplesoft acquisition because they want to put a competitor out of business or take it over because they want peoplesoft's software maintanance ?
These laws are not in stone. They will be changed . You have to let people make backups.
From the article "Why shouldn't I be allowed to make a copy of a CD I have paid for so I can listen to it on my computer or put it on an MP3 player? This shows that the law can be an ass," said George Gardiner, technology lawyer and partner at law firm Stephenson Harwood.
Better idea is for there to be some sort of ban on people that spam . We need a powerful regulatory force. Prevent them from even accessing the net for a certain time or FINE them big money for all bandwidth they suck up. We need a 'do not call list' with teeth for the wwb.

I think you get the point.
