Maybe it's just the fact that my comp sucks (Athlon XP 2000+, Geforce 4 4200 TI, 512 MB PC2100 RAM, 7200 RPM 8MB Cache HD), but this duct tape mod *really* chops up the game. I can run it fine on 800x600 (ouch) with medium details, but with the mod it just kills the frame rate. Now, I'm not a frame rate whore, but when it gets so that I can't aim my freaking shotgun, I get kinda annoyed.
The guy who's suing is a complete ass who couldn't argue himself out of a paper bag. What a retard, for wanting to sue people who call him names! I think he's a pussy, plain and simple. Hey wise guy, go ahead and suck on THIS! Let's see you take me to court, you pansy!
Well, since the poster was asking about a device that would make it easy to transfer files to and from a computer, maybe it *does* make sense to get a cheap laptop and use that exclusively for recording and editing. I bought a brand new X31 w/1.6GHz P-M and 512MB RAM last month for ~$1000 USD, so it's not *hugely* expensive.
That's what's nice about Ask Slashdot: some people will give you the blaringly obvious answer (suck it up and use a MD recorder), and others will give you a slightly different take on the entire problem.
Actually, I buy my notebooks from IBM directly:) I *do* stand around a lot waiting for the monkeys to pull a printer or whatever down from their shelves while they try to sell their overpriced products to the unsuspecting masses:)
I think you're not giving the ignorant dummies enough credit. See, folks like my dad want to pay as little as possible, but still, he'd never pay over $1000 for a laptop with a foreign operating system. I really can't see it happening.
Besides, you and I both know Future Shop's policy on returns - 15 days for tech items. That means that, even if the monkey manages to sell the notebook to a customer, if the guy can't figure it out at all he still can bring it back. I really don't think it's in FS's best interests to sell products that are going to just be returned a few days later because the guy can't find the "Start" button;)
Joe user types are not going down to Best Buy and buy a notebook with an unfamilar OS on it. They're going to say, "I want a windows laptop!" and the trained monkeys will dutifully point them in the right direction.
If somebody buys a laptop with Linux on it, they'll either 1) learn to use it because they know something about it in the first place, or 2) return it within fifteen days (at least, that's the legal limit here in Canada). Your point is moot.
...but what if, before you got a job at such a company, you incorporated yourself and signed a contract that basically says that all of your inventions belong to *your* company? Wouldn't your company have a prior claim? There's gotta be some way to wiggle out of a contract once you're in it... maybe if you, again, incorporated yourself and made a clause that states that any agreement with your company supercedes any prior & similar agreements?
Agreed. This world really needs more non-fantasy based, non-IP RPGs (KOTOR was good, but how many star wars games do we really need)? Fallout was a breakout success in terms of originality and *fun* - let's see Troika develop some kick-ass intellectual properties that they can take to the bank!
...Arcanum and TOEE were *much* closer to Fallout than any of Bethesda's offerings. Imagine TOEE's engine with a new fallout game!
But this is what happens in the computer industry - the people with the most money get the better licences. Too bad that Bethesda's going to make the game that we *don't* want - endless, repetitive, computer-generated quests in a desert with Pipboy.
Arcanum had a great story but bad engine. TOEE had a terrible story but a terrific engine. Too bad they weren't given the chance to work with a brilliant francise using their TOEE engine - could have given us the game that us FO freaks wanted.
8-14 year old comment notwithstanding, I thoroughly enjoyed Final Fantasy Tactics Adv., Tactics Ogre, Advance Wars, Metroid Fusion, F-Zero, Mario 3, Mario World, Warioworld... the list goes on. These games might be targetted at kiddies, but hell, they're still enjoyable for me!
Guess I forgot to mention it, but I did write a pen and paper letter to Bioware about the protection scheme on NWN. Never received an answer. Yes, I am a nerd.

Um, wrong. If you'll even look at the screen shots, you'll see that it works with the shotgun as well.

Screw that. I've got my acre of land on the Moon and I'll be damn sure that no fancy pants lawyer is gonna take that away from me!
Oh, do yourself a favour and pick up F-Zero GX too - best game I've ever owned, and have played for at least 50 hours, if not more.
could you say, "Imagine a beowulf cluster of those!" and actually be asking a legitimate question!

These "luggables" you speak of are now called "notebook" computers, which in some cases weight two or three pounds.
That was BRUTAL! I've never read anything that's made me more uncomfortable, ever! *VERY* interesting, but ouch! +1 Painful.
Left-handed animations too difficult? Couldn't they have just mirror-imaged the 3d models and be done with it? Good grief, talk about lazy!
Three words: Tales of Symphonia.
Oops. No offense to my dad. He's not an ignorant dummy. Great, now I'll *never* get to drive his '64 Acadian!

Or maybe it will be sold to those of us who already have a Windows licence and would prefer to not pay the Microsoft tax again?

The lack of T will definitely hurt; I'm just trying to figure out what "L" is and how it relates to "A."
I downloaded the Tomeraider database and use the tomeraider program to browse. I'm really not sure how to use the SQL database at all.

I'm also not precisely sure as to whether this download comprises the full wikipedia, or just the most read articles. Sorry for being imprecise.
But yeah, I'd pay $30 for an offline DVD copy of 1.0!
Yeah, but does the US library system as a whole really need 1,235 copies of Whitney Houston's 1991 recording of "The Star-Spangled Banner"?
