    It's what's been keeping me fom buying an iPod - actually it's what's been stopping me
    from buying an mp3 player that costs more than £20

    I know the Karma (rip) and one of the sony players does it - but the karma had flaky hard drives
    and the sony (IIRC) needed the crappy sony software.

    This just might swing the balance now.
    I had thought about a san-disk as rockbox would possibly bring out gapless playback - but in the meantime i guess Apple may now
    get my cash.

    Yeah i've installed *all* the drivers - even tried different partitions with Xp & beta drivers etc etc...
    do you have an nvidia Graphics card as well? i've an Asus board/64 X2 3800+/Nvidia 7600 card.

    there are other people on the anandtech/steam/BF2 forums with the same problem.

    If you're thinking of buying an AMD64 X2 for gaming and intend to put the chip in a motherboard with the Nvidia N4 chipset beware...
    Myself and several others have had problems with both Battlefield 2 and Source games (CS:S, day of defeat etc)

    Very annoying.

    Now i'll get lot's of replies from folks with this setup telling me otherwise....

    Having only quickly looked at the site this morning... They are either another member of FON, or have paid to use your connection. So surely it's the same if someone did those things at starbucks/McDonalds etc etc

    I'm gonna give it a go to see if Counter Strike:Source & Battlefield 2 will run.
    They both hang on XP pro using my Asus Motherboard & AMD64 X2 3800.

    A problem a few people are having.
    Assuming the Nvidia drivers etc all work.

    If it's anything like my mum then it has to be Windows i'm afraid. Yes Ubuntu or another noob distro (No disrespect meant, i use Dapper) would solve the virus/malware problem - but my mum wants to learn how to use a pc. She can learn Windows for Free at the local library &or community centre. If she wanted to learn linux she would need to pay for books and wouldn't have anyone but myself to ask about it. Maybe one day, but for lots of people in the same boat it has to be Windows.

    You can get similair functionality in Linux by installing FlightGear...

    This is offtopic but i'll post anyway.

    The first couple of USB pen drives i owned had read/write tabs ala 3 1/2" floppy.
    The last couple i've owned haven't.
    I know virii nowadays aren't the copy themselves across media type, but still i always thought it was a nice feature.

    apparently only you and I are the only people who want this.
    If it wasn't for the wheel snapping off issue i'd get a karma off of ebay.

    I've had loans of various friends mp3 players and the ever-so slight gap annoys the hell out of me.
