Pre-SoL I read a stat from sony that said they finally reached the mark where there was 1,000,000 platnium dropped by monsters (both in straight money, and things you sell to merchants, discounts all things sold to people). So people who have been playing since '99... its reasonable to have more than thier fair share of that plat (I would estimate 10,000 active players per server or less, if you were wondering).

I agree, Ive liked nVidia for a while, but planned on purchasing a 9700 pro this cycle, not a gf4. I dont mind competition like the nvidia reflection extenstions to directx 8 back when geforce2s game out. I just hope they dont make a bunch of deals like this because they are having trouble with the NV30.

I wish Roger Ebert would make his support of anime (although its mainly Miyazaki films) better known to the public. I'm pretty sure mononoke was on his top 10 list for the year it came out.

No, I think the DLLs they mention are specific ones they have converted or something, I dont remember. But when I went to thier site to download (www.mplayerhq.com I think), they had (a link to) a specific package of codecs to go into /usr/lib/win32/. It had in bold/caps/italics that these codecs wouldnt work in win32.

This was detailed in an article several weeks ago. Cg will compile for both OpenGL and DirectX, but people were worried because nvidia has had such close relationships with microsoft that they would phase out OpenGL support or something of the like. Personally, I wouldnt worry about nvidia doing something like that.
