I am really excited to have the opportunity to once again pay for the same songs
Not everybody already has this music, man. I only very recently got into Johnny Cash, for example, and if there were a way that I could get his entire catalog in high quality ogg or mp3 for a reasonable price I'd go for it.
I don't see how an LCD Display would make the AGP Port any faster. Would you hook it up to the USB Bus or the PCI Interconnect or something? Maybe you could use ISA Architecture or built in integrated IDE (especially if you hook it up to the advanced ATA attachment)?
You made my day, AC. Nothing cracks me up like infuriating a/. pedant:-)
Headline reads "Researchers boost computer data storage with common materials". This discovery is, of course, nothing to the great Filo's "How to build plutonium out of common household objects".
Put it in simple terms: the guy who created Spider-Man didn't get a penny from the movie.
Didn't a similar thing happen when the first Superman movie came out? It made millions of dollars and then the public found out that the poor slobs who'd created the character were living one step above poverty. In this particular case, it was even worse because the creators had signed away their rights to the character long ago. IIRC, the studio (or DC) gave them a small cut anyway, probably for good PR.
If all browsers report that they're MSIE, and they all include kludges to render crappy HTML coded specificly for MSIE, then all browsers effectively become MSIE, and Bill wins.
So if we use Opera, then the terrorists have already won.
Well, I don't have any information on the lifetime of DVDs, but I know I've heard a quote bandied about on/. a lot that Kodak photo CDs supposedly last for 100 years.
. . . with 95% confidence, 95% of the population of KODAK Writable CD Media will have a data lifetime of greater than 217 years if stored in the dark at 25C, 40% Relative Humiditiy . . .
Of course, these disks are stored under ideal conditions, but my own personal experience is that CDs, if handled gingerly, can last a long while. Whether you want to blame the media or the user for the typical lifespan of a cd, which is usually quite a bit shy of 100 years, is your perogative.
Thanks--I hadn't thought of that. I guess it's just hard for me to imagine not being allowed to use certain software on your own machine. Granted, one would think I'd be used to the idea by now . . .
Congratulations, you get nonsequitor of the day! According to you, it's ok for corporations to circumvent free trade rules for their own bottom line because . . . (drumroll, please) . . . your taxes are too high! Once again, congratulations.
The old friend mentioned above was, of course, Oliver Queen (aka Green Arrow).
Incidentally, IIRC, Bruce was in his 50s, not his 70s, during Dark Knight Returns.
Have you ever tried running a search through the archives? The search engine could use some work--it doesn't surprise me that they might've missed the original posting.
Question: How do human rights apply to spammers?
Thanks for making this comment. Peter David is the best ST novelist for my money. And his comics aren't too bad, either.

Yeah, if I had an atari system I'd need my Combat fix.
Here's a link for the lazy.

I'm sure this would be modded much higher if everyone knew the full story.

A lawyer for one of the defendants said, ""They paid for the service. There is a question if the additional software counts as a crime."
If this guy thinks bandwidth==software then it's already over.
I've always preferred "code monkies" myself. :)
Note to programmers: Some of my best friends are in dev--don't throw a hissy

I've seen GBAs regularly advertised by the likes of Circuit City and Best Buy for $69.99
Mod parent up! Sealab's the funniest show on the channel (and w/ competition like 'The Brak Show' that's saying something!).
I stand corrected. I'll have to check out "Tower of Babel"--I've heard a lot about it. Thanks.
You do indeed remember correctly. I believe the story of Supes giving Batman some kryptonite is from pre-Crisis continuity (god, i'm such a nerd . . .)

Okay, who on Earth thinks that they should "backup audio cds"?
I backup to CDR any of my CDs that I play in my car stereo. I mean, they sit in a hot, metal box all summer, why would I expose my originals to that?
See how annoying it is now?
Wow, you're right. You are indeed very annoying.
Besides, the biggest buyers of gta:3 were 18-24 year old males. Hardly children.
;)
Being that I fit into that demographic myself, I might have to disagree with you there

And they said scientific progress was getting us nowhere ;)
