Hahaha... this is good. And so true. Kernel building and reading slashdot always seemed to happen together. And then you get into some flame war trying to prove who was smarter or could google faster (the penis size showdown for youth geeks -- and still happening I see) only to realize your build has been done for an hour, but you forgot to turn on "new feature x" or it crapped on modules on something. Hour "wasted".
Wow... I just heard. I have so many fond memories from back when Rob was a fixture here. I would obsessively refresh my browser for the next story... some of which were posted by Rob. He was not as prolific a poster as others back in the day, but I do remember his being more apropos to the goings on at the time (unlike say Jon Katz... whom I think he interviewed once).
God speed Roblimo. As you make your way through the unknown... may your grits always be hot, your Natalies always be Portman, your overlords always be robotic, and your clusters always be Beowulf.
Regardless, I thought URL shorteners were only useful for making things fit better in IRC/Slack/etc. and for Rickrolling unsuspecting youth (us old geeks tend not to fall for it anymore).

That's because you're incapable of thinking the problem through honestly.
It's OK. Just take your soma and have a nice holiday. Everything will be alright.
BTW - I will be modded troll as I do not agree with the enlightened/. masses. Uni was quite a while ago for me. I've lived a bit and have experienced our world for what it really is.
I wonder how many times Brittany Spears' or Heath Ledger's passport record was 'illegal' accessed?
Let's not take our eyes of the ball people. Don't forget the real problems here. Barack is a racist (quite possibly a Marxist). McCain simply has no balls (yes... much respect for Vietnam) and is directly tied into BAU. Hillary is a socialist (not bad if you like that sort of thing) and may be even more tied in to BAU than McCain.
Well holy plum pudding Batman! You've just based the entire US News "experience" on your stay in Colorado a couple of Christmases ago. + Informative even!
OH!!! Give me a effen break from the moral relativism!
So Cuba under the Castro regime was such a great place before the U.S. embargo? Have you read any history man? Your suggestion that Cuba's current problems stem from the United States and its embargo from either ignorance or a hatred of the U.S. I can't think of a third possibility.
I'll double the Microsoft deal and offer them $6M in perl scripts and an infinite value of free OS software if they let me (or Google or any other honest company) publish their collections in free formats.
I loved the 300 A Celerys. My friends and their families loved them too. In Japan, the dually box I built was traded to a friend for a 666 Celery (Satan's processor). He took it to the Netherlands with him. He then traded to a mutual friend for a video card or something. Mutual friend then took it to Florida with him. Used it as a file server for years. He eventually shipped it off to his Mother so she read could email and such.
I tried to get it back, but mutual friend told me to blow. It was a fun machine though. That was the ultimate "finger to the man" machine.
Thanks for the link. I stand corrected. He's stands for "children's health," "women's health", "the DRC," and "ethanol." He's against "nuclear and conventional weapons proliferation around the world" and apparently "rich" people. He definitely believes in taking from the haves and giving to the have-nots.

Let's go right for the insult. Nice.
I read your link. Have YOU? What does it say other than what I've stated above? WHAT HAS HE DONE? WHAT DOES HE STAND FOR? The man is an invented candidate with no real policy. With Hillary, we'll get mostly socialism and things done in her best interest (the Clinton years part II). With McCain, we get a moderate conservative that will follow along with MOST conservative principals (and let illegal aliens run amok). With Obama, we'll get poetry and platitudes (and a surrender monkey). Lord help us.

You've clearly never used some horrible thing like ServiceNow or a poorly implemented deployment of RT.

A fantastic example of this was the 2012 presidential election, emotions ruled.
Very good.

Finally!
Thinking... something you're apparently not familiar with. History seems to be a problem for you as well.
Good call. The five that voted yay should be impeached!

All hail our supposititious messiah... or else!
If you agree with this sort of thing, you should vote Obama. Get your brown shirts out! You'll need them.
Your naivete and that of your ilk will be the end of the West. Thank you.
Nice one edmicman!

We Americans are screwed.
97.562% of all approximations are made up. ;-)
98% of all statistics are made up.

Be careful you don't fall off your pedestal.

"Speaking as someone who has worked as an Immigration Officer with the Canada Border Services Agency. . ."
". . .and I would argue that the United States' laws are needlessly draconian."
I see you've followed the check list.
Come on! This is only a story because Coble has an 'R' next to his name. Coble (R-NC) SITS on the subcommittee and said some stupid things. Big deal!
Berman (D-CA) is the chairman of the subcommittee. Didn't he try this. No matter. He's clean as a whistle anyway.
Fuck the iPhone and all the narcistic idiots who own one.

Google? Do no evil, right? Honest?
Need I mention China?
I will not take seriously a presentation that uses Comic Sans as its primary font.
