Ive been doing this mudding thing for 8 years now, and I can tell you right now that the only reason I do NOT use Linux is because of the fact that theres no good mud clients for it that I like. Im used to ZMud, and nothing else on Linux has the functionality. My favorite mud client that I used on Linux was SClient, its okay, but doesnt have advanced triggers. GMud is technically Shareware, but the guy who made it doesnt exist anymore, I think he fell off the earth. Its like Sclient, but Windows...and MUDS...just like Everquest, are the crack of true gaming geeks.
I don't know if this has been said, but Sony did the exact same to Infantry. Infantry used to be a free massively multiplayer overtop shooter game, it had a nice community, the players were pretty happy because the Developers did things. Then Sony bought them. Then it went downhill. Then a year later they started charging 10 dollars a month for a 2d game. Everyone refused to play it, except about 100 people, which is small in comparison to the 5000 it had. Sony needs to learn to respect the players of their games, me thinks. Sony does indeed suck.
Amen. I dual boot Red Hat 8 and Windows XP, just to see which runs faster, and it takes Mozilla on RH8 about 6 seconds to boot up, in XP with QuickStart on, it takes like 1 or 2.
Oh yeah. OpenOffice does the same thing.
I tried to get into Linux, but why? Windows XP is free too.;)
I agree. EQ has finally made it onto Linux after what, 3 or 4 years of EverQuest being out? Not to mention EverQuest 2 is coming out soon. Gaming in Linux is a joke, and its why so many people dont switch. Sure, Linux can host your mother's webpage, but it cant play but 5% of the 3d games out there.
Bushido Blade was good, and very difficult, they only made 2.
Einhander i didnt play, although I bet there was probably Espers in it somehow.
Ehrgeiz was entertaining for the 10 minutes it took to beat it, and they couldnt go without sneaking in Final Fantasy characters.
Vagrant Story was boring.
Xenogears I never got a chance to play.
Parasite Eve was decent but it was just the same 'save the world from villian a' role playing game.
Chrono Trigger/Cross. Both these games are awesome, too bad everyone hated Cross except me.
Driving Emotion Type S...who gives a shit.
The Bouncer, again I dont think anyone cared about this game, since Square's fanboys just want Final Fantasy.
Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy 10.5 meets 8, meets 7, meets Disney. Real Original. Oh yes.
Its like this man...I tried playing Final Fantasy 8. I hated the draw system, I hated Squall because I didnt want to play an asshole, I hated how it was just another love story, I hated everything about it, it sucked. I tried Final Fantasy 9. I was pissed off. It was all the crap from their old games, thrown together in like 4 months, with a 4 year old designing the characters. Square sucks. I/WISH/ someone would realize this other than 2% of the universe.
I wish Square would do something BESIDES put out the same game every year or so. They havent done anything original or compelling since Final Fantasy 7. I used to love this company and their games, now I despise them for what they are, soul sucking, unoriginal, ass goblins.

Yeah. Some games. Linux has like what, 10 or less runable games and Windows has like what, a billion? Sorry guys. Nice try. Until Mac, Windows, and Linux all have ports for every game, theres still no place for a serious gamer in Linux. I like my EverQuest.
Look, for someone like me, this would be a nice thing. I right now have a 32 meg Diamond Viper II card...it barely runs Unreal Tournament. hell, it wont even run most other things, This card is cheap as hell and promises basically a Ti card. I'd buy it. I sure as hell would.

Let's not forget the facts though, Microsoft is literally trying to wipe linux from the face of the earth. I thought it was the other way around, too.

Not really. Linux doesnt have any good mud clients! SClient is the best one, and it crashes on me at random times.
Wow. Sterotype jokes. I guess I couldn't expect anymore from Slashdot anyways.

Internet Explorer also runs on 2 of the 3 major OS's, Windows and Mac OSX, but I guess since Linux isnt included, it doesnt run on 'many os's', eh?
Heh, its slashdot man. Zealot power!
