Great way to get publicity by making a super-expensive supercar, but until Tesla can produce a car for the masses (~25K) its not going to be able to make a dent in emissions or auto sales. Green niche car.

Reading over the comments, I was cheerfully reminded of a short story I read in High school called "Bartleby the Scrivener."

What the Wikipedia summary does not describe is that the original two scriveners have work problems. I can't remember which way exactly, but one scrivener couldn't do any work before eating and the other one got sloshed at lunch so they essentially traded productivity in the morning and afternoon. Now Barleby did no work at all. It's those kinds of people you have to watch out for.

Unfortunately, early puberties can also lead to stunted growth

I was a bit of a late bloomer myself and I do remember students in lower grades reaching puberty before me which was quite embarassing and frustrating, especially on the sports field. The most notable difference is the amount of strength that one gains having been through puberty - I played varsity Lacrosse during my high school days and paying with sexually mature kids was like going up against a bulldozer. Having now graduated from college and attending reunions, it's clear that the males who went through puberty early and were the stars on the field are now small little runts. The few of us that bloomed late are much taller and stronger now.

The amount of energy needed to pack on pounds is relatively little on a day to day basis, even less than a hundred calories over our needs per day will eventually cause obesity. There are other endocrine disorders, amongst them Cushing's Syndrome where reduction of caloric intake and excersize may have little impact on weight loss. On a recent episode of Diagnosis Unknown on Discovery Health, one woman who suffered from this condition ate only chicken breasts and broccoli while hitting the gym for several hours a day, continuing to gain weight. This should show that diet and exercise does not always work and the body's other mechanisms may be effected causing fat to be stored even when it should be used for energy.

This article gives me new reason not to make out with fat chicks.

The there's also the issue of student motivation to actually study in the first place.

And lets think about the motivation of extra homework here. If my teachers assign a boatload of homework and I can only do half of it before falling asleep and get reprimanded by my teacher the next morning, and that reprimand would be identical to if I didn't do ANY homework at all, what's the motivation for me to actually try in the first place?

When I was 13 years old in my first Algebra class, she notoriously assigned the students 3+ hours of homework a night, and of course after being reprimanded for doing a shitty job (I was going through my growth spurt at the time, I really was sleepy), I stopped doing at as the punishment for not doing it at all was the same. Of course my grades sucked for that class. The next year for geometry, my new teacher assigned modest amounts of work. I actually did it and came in the top of my class.
