Except for the fact that the Judicial branch is pretty much sidestepped when it comes to gathering the information from his ISP under the Patriot Act. I hope the judge finds that asserting the Patriot Act in this case was wrong. My concern is not that he is guilty, but that this investigation went way too far. A lawyer certified cease-and-desist would have been more appropriate rather than calling on the FBI, who abused their power, to do the MPAA's dirty work.
And how is being unable to play a legally, store-bought, "license" (as the MPAA likes to refer to that as, "infringement upon someone else's rights." Or how about INFRINGING UPON MY RIGHT to backup said movie to a different medium so that I don't scratch the hell out of the original? Here's a novel idea, how about the gov't tries to protect the rights of its citizens first and THEN protects the rights of its corporations. Of course most citizens can't pay as much to the politicians as many coporations.
Perhaps if they were stoned, the drugs would make them a little more layed back and perhaps give them some much needed insight into the stupidity of this bill. All kidding aside, I really hope this bill dies in a great big fiery death.
Perhaps you have the wrong perspective on the situation. It's not like your company was shoving 72 hours of straight gaming down the throats of the the players, but that the gamers WANTED to play your game for 72 hours straight. I'd be happy that the gamer chose my game for their livelyhood, especially that they enjoyed it enough to play it for 72 hours straight (although those who did play for 72 hours really do need to know how to limit themselves). Those at the company are may be assholes with horrible intentions, but I'm just offering a potential different perspective you might not have thought of.
So you don't have an ATI card right now? When was the last time you setup an ATI card in linux. I can tell you from experience that, while notperfect, ATI has fulfilled all of my wants/needs in linux. Setup was a piece of cake (and no recompiling a stupid kernel interface), as was configuration (especially nice for my dual-head configuration). My Radeon 9600XT performs just as well with UT2004 in linux as it does in windows, plus ATI just hired a bunch of linux developers. Give me some anecdote for evidence, but until then I'm going to hold the opinion that you haven't touched a recent ATI card with linux.
Because people might actually watch chess. As much respect as I have for mathematics in general, I can't imagine watching a competitive math competition on television. That said, ESPN could broadcast math, it would probably not be a good thing for them to spend programming time on. Perhaps it's because chess is a game and math is a tool. I suppose math COULD be made to work in a game context, but I'd be scared to see it:).
I have to agree. Dells do have pretty good quality. I don't work for Dell, but I do work supporting a decent-sized campus that primarily uses Dells. Sure, we see the occassional failure, but not near as many as the grandparent tries to portrey. Personally, I only like 1 laptop out of the Inspiron lineup because all of the others feel like plastic...but that is a very personal decision, my experiences with the others lead me to believe that they are still well built and not shoddy pieces of crap.
And it's the lack of these equivalents, in addition to the ability to actually find a job, that makes Canada look pretty attractive. Surprisingly, being from Montana, you'd be amazed at how many people in other states think that Montana is part of Canada. I'm not sure where they studied geography, but I hope my children never go there:)
No good games? The Nomad played the entire Sega Genesis lineup. No, the reason that the Game Gear and the Nomad couldn't face the GB were some slightly unpolished issues, such as the fact that the Sega sytems ate batteries like MAD.
One of the problems that I've noticed with PC gaming, or perhaps more correctly with PC gamers, is that they feel the need to upgrade constantly to play every game on its highest detail setting at the highest resolution. I, as a PC gamer myself, like to have all of these features, but it's just not practical. But that doesn't stop me from being able to play the games. I just have to sacrifice 1600x1200, antialiased pretties. Just as a side note, I'm gaming on a P4 1.7 Ghz that I bought 3.5 years ago...since then I've upgraded my RAM once, and bought a new video card (which I got two days ago, JOY!!). That's about the extend of my upgrading and I can still play UT2004 and (even more joy!!), worlds of warcraft pretty well.

It's because Britannica plans to provide a good product and a warrantee that Wikipedia can't. Microsoft is scared because it knows it doesn't provide as good of a product as it should, and the fact that there is a competive product that does the job almost as well (leave that up to debate) for the perfect price leaves Microsoft just a little scared.
It's amazing how many Joe Sixpacks think that the metric system is "hard". Personally, I prefer to work in metric, even though I am an American. The whole system is much more organized...and I only have to memorize powers of ten rather than 24, 12, 16, 3, 5280, etc. Of course speed limits and such I'm still stuck with non-metric. I support the switch.

There is room for interpretation, and especially with translation. We know that the universe works on certain principles...a self sustaining system. Meh, that was a bad way of saying "Me Too".

I've seen only one P1 that was a 300Mhz, and that was a laptop (currently sitting in my backpack). It's the only one I've ever heard of being faster than a 233.
I wish my mod points hadn't expired!

I prefer to leak on THEM right now...though the last time I did, the Hastings guy wasn't very happy with me.

Okay...that is pretty messed up. I retract my previous comment. You were right to leave that place.

I had a beowulf cluster of these...don't get your hopes up :)

Just cram a whole butt-load of them into the case...prolly won't even look to see if they are seated.

not to mention we don't even know if the bacteria would even be harmful to humans.

Very well put.
