The notion of "bad" and "good" genetic material and the proposal that people with bad genetic material should not be allowed to breed seems reminiscent of the policies of the Third Reich. People who were seen as unworthy to live were put into concentration camps, abused in dubious medical experiments, sterilized and eventually killed.
I dearly hope that you don't want this to happen in modern societies and that you might eventually realize that the notion of "good" and "bad" genetic material is fundamentally flawed.

Look at the number of services that Yahoo is offering. They are neither the best provider for financial quotes nor the best webmail service, but they're still very popular and make money from advertising. They just need to be very good in one area (e.g. search) and because of the portal style the other areas of the site will also get traffic. After all, Google makes money from advertising.

I hope IBM will make Tablet PCs useful for college students, for the education market and for artists.
Current Tablets are not very attractive because of

    • short battery life (if you're going to use your tablet for classes, you need more than 2 hours--anything over 4 hours would be best)
    • high price tags
Tablets are currently targeted at executives, but there are surely a lot of students, graphics freelancers etc. around who would possibly buy a Tablet if it were useful and affordable.

If you like to compare it to the phone system...
I think it would rather be like charging nothing for calls to the phone provider's hotline than "long distance" versus local. It would certainly put Aon TV at an advantage over other web TV services. I don't know where they meter the traffic-maybe it is even easier not to charge for web TV content if it is distributed in the way I outlined.

I can't say whether the costly bottleneck is the transatlantic connection or the regional connections. If they run a reasonably successful web TV service, I think they cannot afford serving everyone over regional connections, but must think about (transparently) mirroring the content locally.

I suppose Telekom Austria will eventually exempt traffic for their web TV services from the monthly limit, as it is within their network. They could distribute it to a number of servers across the country first and then distribute it locally to clients. I read that this has been done by webfreetv.com during the dotcom bubble (they were producing web TV for the masses, but are now pursuing a different business model).

    happy easter!

53 minutes to mobile phones in other networks
24 minutes to mobiles in the same network

I expect the call volume to drop to about 80%. To call home (Austria), I am looking at Skype and SIP and I'll have people call me (there is a firm called TeleDiscount which offers calls to Australian mobiles for 0.182 Euros per minute). I don't think I will make a lot of international calls, so I should be fine with the type of prepaid/plan you'd recommend to an Australian (with the exception that the contract can't last for longer than 6 months).
