I use Wall-Mart because they are inexpensive and most important-they make quality prints
Walmart does not make quality prints. They make adequate prints. Their 4x6 or 5x7 prints are more than adequate for you to give to granny. People who use Walmart for their prints do so because they are cheap and they don't know, no better. These prints are almost always tossed into a shoebox, placed in the back of a closet, and forgotten.
People who care about their prints and are going to display them use a quality photo finisher or print them, themselves.
As long as you keep your expectations low using Walmart is just fine.
Can you use linux for digital photography, yes you can. Can you get the best results using linux? No, you can't. The fact is most, if not all, drivers for photographic equipment are written for windows and macs.
I'm sure that a determined amature could push the limits under linux and get acceptable results, but they will not be as good as under windows. My current photographic printers are the Canon i9900 and Epson Phto R300. Both of them us very complex drivers to get their photographic outputs. Both of these printers do professional level prints that would be unavailable without the dedicated drivers.
I don't know of any camera manufacturer that makes linux drivers ether I know there are none available for my Nikon D70 or Sony DSC-828. Without these drivers you can't talk to the camera through the built in USB ports. Of course there really is no reason to do so. Everyone that is serous about photography uses an external card reader instead of hooking up their camera right to the computer. Hell, I've never hooked ether of my camera's up the any computer.
Gimp is a fine tool for what it does. But trying to use it for professional level work woudl be very fustrating. I is an excellent graphics program but it is no where near the level of Photoshop CS. Anyone who says it is simply doesn't know how to use photoshop or has no clue what they are talking about.
Photoshop also supports a wide range of 3rd party plugins too. These plugins are not going to be available under linux. For most among these plugins are ones that let you read and manpulate RAW camara images. Simply put, with out the abliltiy to use RAW images you will be limited to JPEGS, limiting the most powerful features of these cameras. There are some GNU plugins for some cameras but most of those are limited in the scope of what they can do.
In short, you can use linux but true professional level results will not be available to you.
I agree that 5 days is to few but so is 10 days. It should be more like 30 days and you should have the option to say that under no cercumstates is your domain to be transfered.
But I do believe this will be a self correcting problem. Someone will try to steal a major domain like ford or walmart. It will go through under the new rules and some one will get thier ass sued off. Pretty soon things will be right back to the way they where.
No, this is not a good thing. All it does is show that with enough makeup stupid ugly people can breed. Stupid and ugly people should not breed. It just goes against the natural laws of selection.
This might have been a more impressive "stunt" a serveral years ago and there had be a C-64 involved. Not that big of a deal today.
When I got my Radion 9700 last year I read that it could do dual monitors. I got out my old spare crt I keep. Plugged it in, fiddled with the settings, and up it came. Two monitors on one PC. Total time, a little over 5 mins. Then I chunked the monitor back into the closet.
Not a big deal. Now the fact that I was slightly inebriated when I attempted and acomplished this task must rate something.
Another attepted by the unknowing to led what they do not understand. They will pass their laws, they will rattle their chains, they will bang their fist and in the end what will it mean. Zip and shit is what it will mean.
Look at that past few years of what all the attemps to control the Internet have done. Not much. They have tried to stop music on the net. It is still there just as available as it always was. They have tried to stop the spread of pornographics, legal and illegal, it failed. Porn is just as available as before. They have tried to curb pirated software, that has failed too.
All their rule and regulations may take out chunks, such as napster, but in the end what did it too. Everything that has been baned or regulated is still just as available to those of us who know where to get it.
There has been attempts to control free speach on the net before. They failed and this one will fail too. It is that simple.
The original WotW was not a classic film. It was garbage. The only thing it had in common with the book was alien invasion from Mars, the way they died at the end, and the title. Other than that nothing worth watching more than once.
Same here. This is one of my favorite books. I was really dissappointed when I heard that they would be "modernizing" the new one. I'm looking forward to this one more than Spelbergs now.
What if the probes are actually encountering drag of some type. The sun has been blowing out particles in the form of solar wind for about 6 billion years. What if the these particles do not escape in to interstellar space as thought but instead go into orbit around the sun at about this distance. Over the billions of years these particles could build up till flying a spaceship into this area would slow it down and change it's direction.
If solar wind couldn't explain it what about left over gasses from the formation of the solar system? Theory states that the sun blew away all these gases from the inner solar system but what about outside? There has to be a region where these gases would still exist.
But ether from the effects of solar wind or left of matter from the begining of the solar system the effect would be the same. Inside the solar system space would be realitivly empty where the effect of solar wind, gravity from the planets, and light pressure from the sun would keep it "clean." Outside the solar system there would be an area where the gases form a shell around the system. These gases don't have enough energy to escape the suns weak gravity so they just stay there building up over the years.
In effect the probes would be hitting areas of space where the gase is more dense. If present in enough quantity it would slow the ship down. What about the voyager probes? Are they experincing the same effect?
I remeber them days. Damn, UUCP could be a bitch to set up. I ran a leafnode on an Amiga 500 with a 40MB hard drive. I was getting about a 150 newsgroups over a 2400 bps modem from a "buddy of mine" that I never met face to face.
I got UUCP set up and my node map entered in the UUCP map project. I almost fainted when the whole thing started working just like it should have. It ran for 3 years before the company I was leaching from had to drop all external feeds. By then thought I had a SLIP connection to work and didn't need the UUCP connection any more.
I've been on the since '88 and never paid for porn. I remember shifting through ftp sites looking crappy scanned gifs and sports illistrated swim suit editions. The golden age of Internet porn ended around '92 or '93 when they said they would cut off any site that hosted a porn gif site.
Funny, it wasn't alright when they where giving it way, but its cool if they want to you pay for it. But not really an issue because there has always been free porn out there if you know where to look. You don't even have to look hard.
The D70 has a hell of a battery life. I've shot over 800 pictures in one sitting and my battery only dropped 1 tick on the meter. There are 5 ticks on the meter. I've read reports where people have shot over 2000 pictures on one charge.
I'm about to take mine out to do some shotting and I've been shooting on the same battery for 2 weeks now.
I have the same camera he has, the Nikon D70, and I can say it is a sweet camera. I have a couple of the high capacity cards and a microdrive card and they do hold a lot of pictures but I question this drive people have to get big and fatter cards.
Sure, you can get 1500 pictures on this card but I ask you is this a wise thing? I know CF card falure is rare but it does happen and the microdrives are more prone to fail than the memory cards are. It seems to me more logical instead of carrying a couple of fat cards to carry the same amount of space in smaller cards. Say 256 or 512 cards.
You can get 256 cards for under 50 bucks now. Seems to me it would be smarter to carry a few of these cards instead of the big ones and rotate them out. Change one a day if you have to. On the D70 you can get 70 or so pictures on a 256 card. That way if you do suffer from card falure you lose at most one day's worth of pictures. I suppose you could lose more than one card but at least you wouldn't walk away with nothing.
I don't see why this is making news now. Those of us with the high end digital SLR and such have been doing this since we first found out you could get these CF cards in these players. It's cheaper to buy the player and canblize it for the CF than to buy the CF.
But he wasn't vandalising anything. He was demostrating how his device worked. The police busted him and didn't give him a reason ether. Now if they picked him up while rolling around NYC they would have had a case.
The clear reason why they busted him is because the repbulican convention is coming to town and this is one more protester off the street. This guy clearly got the shaft in my option. I don't agree with his politics but I don't agree with locking his ass up because of them.
Well fuck the first admendment here. I'm a Bush supporter and I think this guy got railroaded. Nothing wrong with what he was doing. I hope he sues the fuck out of NYC for this.
Who cares? Tell me, is this really a problem? I a bunch of people want to get in a field and watch a old movie projected on the side of a wall, more power to them.
Yeah but 20gb dat tapes are cheaper and have better shelf life. I bet all the data in these emails could fit on one or 2. This is a none issue. Stick a crowbar in the public coffer and buy a offline tape storage.
I agree 100%, less violance and more sex.

Just what we need -- no, there'd be no practical problems, except for the greenpeace protesters on your lawn going "save the heat!" or somesuch!
That is why we call out the brute squad and beat them into submission. Damn hippies....
That is funny. I have two domains registered with godaddy.com and I have reieved exactly jack and shit spam from them.

God, when I get on my high horse my spelling goes to shit. Sorry about that.

Waste of a good player if you ask me.

Your damn straight on that one. That shit wouldn't have lasted a week around here, not to mention 60 years.
I believe when I say, "Fuck That", I speak for all of us.
