    Never's a long time. As soon as there are embedded cpus that can decode OGG in real time and still use as little power as ones that can only do mp3 and aac, then iPod will get OGG. But as 90% of peope have no oggs and apple had to sacrifice some battery life to shrink the ipod, they won't be adding faster chips until they are lower powered.

    That's the whole point of this promotion. So people can use their wared copies of windows. I doubt it will help linux much.

    that IBM has tons of patents they get but don't enforce. They use them first, so nobody else can get them and fuck over IBM, and second, to use against people tht try to fight IBM. I expect that we will see lots of similar patents used against SCO. This specific one seems like the first category as IBM needs to be able to pay its OSS workers, imo.

    Ya, for the battery reasons. the only laptops that can compare are Powerbooks, and if i understand right, with most distros, the ppc version tends to lag behind.

    Except Standard (English) units are more useful. They're divisible by more things. ex: a half foot is 6 inches a third of a foot is 4, a quarter is 3. In the real world metrics aren't really as pretty as people say. The only common conversion out there is volume to mass and for anything but water, metrics are no easier than Standard. And Celsius degrees are too damn big for lab use, imo. For some purposes Standard is better and for some purposes metric is. Its not tht hard to learn both.

    That corps are necessary for widespread adoption of linux. Sure the people they send too these shows are worthless, but important stuff does cope from corps as well as individuals. So don't gete too down on the corps since we wouldn't have come this far without them.

    I did it and it was simple as pie. Only problem was that my pos tv card didn't have a builtin encoder an my computer was too slow to record, but that was by no means a linux/mythtv problem.

    By the way, i have an eteTV PVR for my mac, is there any software out there that's better than what's ncluded with the eyetv? I miss mythtv's record this whenever its on option. eetv seems only able to be programmed per timeslot.
