    that would be pretty cool. I don't have a kb, mouse or monitor hooked up to my winbox and use vnc exclusively. Though the main thing i use it for is IE (testing pages) and Kazaa (have winbox, will save cpu cycles) which still need a gui. However, if you could run gajmes direct form a CLI that would be awesome.

    Earthlink is cool w/ just about anything. IIRC, you can't run a mail server, but that it. I've been running just about every other type of server brhind my home DSL and they don't care, hopefully they won't care about NAT either.

    I recent news, Microsoft has planed to buy the US Department of Justice. Microsoft chaiman Steve Ballmer and Attonrent General Ashcroft seem very excited about the merger. "This will allow greater function for Microsoft and aid the DoJ in protecting the intrests of the American people" an excited Ashcroft said form the seat of his new Maybach. Ballmer was unavailable for comment as he is currently preforming a classified "preformance review" with President Bush.

    You've never use a dell have you?
    1) Shit inside keeps breaking. Dell will fix that as long as it's under warraanty, but it's still a nuiscance to be w/out your com for 3 weeks. Not to menation if you keep it pas warranty.
    2) They ar the shittiest built laptops out there. i've use new Compaqs that are better built. And the dell screen sags ointo the kb so you get key prints on the screen.

    A better comparison would have been to sonys ot ibms.

    It gives me a moral right. Albeit lgal, but that's why we object to the laws.

    Screens are off (and usually dummies as well) on the set. The images are added later digitally.

    Just for the record, one, real word names can't be copyrighted. All it means is you can't sell a car named Firebird or Thunderbird. You ncan use the names however you want, though.

    I've seen a lot of posts saying that the kid should just do his homework. As a highschooler i don't see the need for most of my homework and never do work before the morning of the day its due. Granted, i don't have much HW (since most of my teachrs seem to agree it's not that great), but there is a lot of busywork out there that doesn't need to get done. Especially in schools without qualified teachers. So lay off. That being said, i'd tell the kid to ask his parents to lay off as long as hios grades stayed good.

    I hope i didn't make any spelling/grammer errors in that since it'll hurt my argument :).

    True. I dl'd visicalc a while ago and tried to figure out what it could do. I could do everything i know how to do in excel (albeit not much) except charts (maybe it can do that too and i just didn't figure it out). Of course i've only used a spreadsheet maybe 5x for real, but still cool.

    I used (and i guess still could if i was so inclined) to install NT4 and Office 97 after i lost the keys just by typing random numbers into the keybox. I also still remember my win 95 serial. Now we have these 25 char alphanumeric keys and it's hell if you lose a box. And windows is still pirated. Fail imo.

    We see these articles all the time. However people are still buying PCs. In theory, i guess these devices may be as powerful, but imo, nothing smaller than a laptop can actually be used as a primary workstation. These non-pcs will have small screens, cramped keyboards, if any and poor pultimedia quality. Until this can be changed (never, imo), the PC will reign supreme.

    When I installed my HP722C a while back, I had to manually write a magicfilter print filter because no existing system supported it at the time. Unacceptable.

    umm... just for the record i've been using an HP722C in linux and BSD for a really long time.

    And the superdistro will be an easy to use gentoo. That sure seems like the best approach.

    It comes w/ every server version of win32 and can be easily obtained for other versions. It was the first server i ran (pre NIMDA). It's also why i fist got interested in *NIX.
