When Haiku takes me back to Redwood city in 1996, back before Greg Stein was hired and put out to pasture by MS...then I'll buy the reviewer's claims:)
Nice to see the MS trolls once again wasting mod points....mission accomplished!
Notice the six articles out of the total thirty gracing the home page on/. are, in some way or another, about MS. That makes it at least two shy of the quota MS pays the admins to maintain. We're certain this is an oversight that will be corrected momentarily. All hail./...an MS paid outlet since 2003.
This is slashdot, one of the many online marketing arms...er...tentacles, of Microsoft, where the daily quota of mentioning the beast is met come hell or high water. Let me help...Microsoft announced today that their company, like Enron, seeks to use only the most modern and aggressive means of transporting... Today, Frito Lay announced a new flavor of chip, inspired by Microsoft's newest R & D Center recently opened in (insert city). What was once the bane of archeologists in Eygpt and the favorite testing material for Caterpillar Corp. has now become a favorite building material of Microsoft. Redmond recently announced that sand will become the new floor material in all corporate offices.
Keep up the good work slashdot...have fun cashing those MS checks.
You don't get it - kdawson is being paid to keep MS in discussion. Remember... 'Any publicity is good and good publicity is even better.'
kdawson has an assigned daily quota that involves posting about MS over and over - any bitching that appears to be against MS by kdawson is all part of the scam. They are both criminals.
And the trolls shell out more and more mod points...mission accomplished - keep it up, guys! You're not soldiers, you're just recruits...hehehe 'karma: excellent'.

The trolls must be doing a shift change, or they've found something else to hammer on instead. Maybe we've stretched them thin... That's the ticket, we should flash mob all sites being greased by MS trolls:)
You know, at first I thought the MS trolls were harvesting mod points by shear numbers, and then sharing logons' from one shift to another. With their current alacrity, it appears./ administration has simply configured specific accounts with an unlimited supply of daggers, with shift-sharing tactics still in place.
They don't have to invent new attacks in general, just tweak their tried/true 'turfing slander tactics for the/. environ and hand out assignments. What a way to earn a living...for both parties involved, eh Dawson?
The ISS is having trouble with a 'mysterious' vibration that occurred last time they tried to fire the engines for an orbital adjustment.
My guess is the Shuttle engine delay is just an excuse to postpone things while they try to find a way to move the ISS without it shaking itself to pieces.
The IT guy could always play the role of whistleblower...give you one guess where that leads.
I've spent years working around Asia and found the same thing, time and time again. Cracked software sits on servers and everyone helps themselves. Unless compliance officer is one of your titles, best tack is to stick to your specific job description.
I worked at one company that seemed puzzled why I didn't bring my own copies - turned out they didn't have any English versions. You'd be surprised how quickly you get used to software that isn't in your own language.
When discussing layoffs or hiring vies-a-vi Microsoft, it can help to remember that the majority of statistics involve expatriates, part-time and temporary employees or short-term contract hires. When MS announces layoffs, it rarely involves the small core of full time, salaried workers the company maintains at HQ.
MS quotes one number that includes the above when it wants to sound like a large corporation, and another, that only includes core staffers, when it wants to sound thrifty. MS's numbers raise and fall in a similar pattern regardless of the overall market.
Point is, MS is not a barometer for the IT industry when it comes to (un)employment.
> Saying it detects "motion" is even less accurate than "touch"
What else would a camera do? Detection of co-ordinates has to be fed in somehow. Especially since there is nothing to interpret touch. Man, I'd love you have your crack budget...must eat the lion's share of your MS paycheck.
> using its unique large display, multi-user, multi-touch and interactive capabilitie
And just to keep things straight, let's recall that this big-ass-table has NO 'touch' capability. It uses several cameras below the glass to detect motion. Touching the glass has no effect on any operation of the system. It is an indication of the type of marketing lie MS seems so willing to foist on the public and media.
MS has tried for years to find an application for this white elephant, but with nothing new to market, and the iPhone's true touch interface leading the pack, they keep rolling it out in an effort to get someone to pay the $10,000.00 price tag.

Of course not. It's not 'this economic environment' that would take the hit...you heartless, short-sighted lout!
And remember - investing in MS is risking having your own money used against you in the marketplace.

Mod up
- /. has been taking $$ from MS for some time now...funny how that works.

How many want to?
Twilight Zone episodes have been online for the last year, at least...
STTNG, Voyager, Stargate, Atlantis are online via ShoutCast...
Why are you guys so out of the loop...?
Ubuntu/Linux is hands down simply more usable after installation.
w/Windows, you are still looking to install Office, as an example.

Any machine? Like a bowling ball polisher? Gotta say....wow - just wow!
