Unfortunately explaining a joke ruins it, but you didn't seem to get it in the first place.

American McGee's "Alice" was released a couple years ago. It was Alice in Wonderland (a sweet, charming, etc childhood story), but much MUCH darker. Like, the part of max payne where he goes crazy darker.

A couple weeks ago, American McGee's "Oz" was annonced. It's going to be the same dark style as Alice, but based on the Wizard of Oz (another sweet childhood story). So American McGee is a brand that makes dark covers of childrens' work, hence the strip.

Oh, and this is pure genious. (probably because it actually HAS happened to me)

"has anyone noticed that Canadian DSL seems a whole lot nicer than American, but cable often is much increased in crappiness?"
br. No. I haven't noticed that at all. My friends in my area that have DSL can download from a major ftp server (running on an OC line, etc) at about 50 or 60 k/s. I consistently get 75 - 150 on cable. it varies through the day, but usually varies in that range (4am i get 150, 8pm i get 75). The ads for DSL are correct out here. You get consistent speed. Unfortunately though, you get consistently bad speed. Not to mention that for dsl I would have to invest in a router, whereas with cable, I plug my cablemodem into a $20 hub, and put my computers on the other ports. I get DHCP addresses, but I've had the same IP for almost a year now (enough that I can even register a domain name), try saying that about DSL.

I ignored the initial 'O', it had some bearing to what was before it, likely.
Then, i took the second and third group: 'TT' and 'SS', and compared it alphabetically ( s directly precedes t ), and inferred the third group 'FF' would have the same pattern as the ones it was sandwitched between, and got 'EE' as the next two letters.

    Same answer, different logic.

No. Rental cars are like rental movies. You're paying to watch it for a limited time in it's whole glory. More appropriate, Test driving is like mp3's. Shitty quality (some smelly dude in a cowboy hat riding shotgun w/ you), and you don't get the whole deal (try taking a test drive up to 160 clicks... they don't like that).

"apples (the fruit, not the computers) are just advertising for apple trees"

Okay, what the hell are you talking about? Let me try to get some kinna logic out of this
    ...
Okay, so apple trees produce apples. And bands produce music. So if the music is advertising for the band, you shouldn't have to pay for it (the band). I dunno, but have you ever tried to buy a band? and i mean an entire band, not just a CD... Why not walk up to Lars Ulrich and say to him "lars. I want to buy metallica. Yes. the whole band.". He'll probably break your teeth. So the apples thing makes no real sense. Apples are the product, CD's are the product. You aren't getting CD's for free, you're getting shit quality samples of the CD, sans cover art, etc.
