    What is special about "Canadian content" anyhow? The whole notion of nationalism needs to begin fading into the background. If there is something unique of value that the Canadian gov't brings to its citizens, fine, but an attempt to promote the Canadian brand by the government is not really useful in the big picture. If there is something great to publish, then there is no real barrier to its being published. This is just branding and it's a waste of time.

    The court case is going over which type of amendment prop-8 was and thus was the method used to pass it valid.

    Then why is google's argument that it harms their ability to hire people being offered? What has that got to do with the method used to pass the amendment?

    Good thing you are here to set those great legal minds straight as to the error of their ways. :-)
    I wonder, honestly, why does the RIAA oppose this being televised? People here assume there is something sinister about it, and the fear of the light does remind one of certain nasties that live under rocks, but maybe they have a good reason. I'd be curious to hear SERIOUS ideas as to why they might be wanting to hide it. I actually can't come up with one, even assuming sinister motives. Aren't they trying to intimidate people? I assume they think they might lose? I don't get it.

    Aha, it sounds like "password gorilla" is more monkey-sized than gorilla. :-) 1Password integrates as a plugin with all major browsers and automatically fills in your username and password for you, in addition to auto-filling things like credit card info and stuff. This is all configurable and optional, and of course is a security risk if someone steals your computer.

    Rather than trust an external site with all my security, I use a tool called 1Password for Macintosh (there is a similar tool for windows) that secures my passwords in once place and protects them with a single master password. No OpenID required, just the Mac Keychain.

    The point is, which pieces are incorrect? It's highly likely to be slightly incorrect, but you want it to be highly likely to be completely correct.

    You can repeat the analysis several times to increase accuracy, I would think. Do the analysis 3 times and it might increase to 99.9999997%, for example.

    The reason for the difference is that by and large Apple provides a better user experience. Therefore Apple owners are more likely to be fanboys, because when you are treated well, it generates loyalty. I don't know why this is, but the experience of owning a Windows machine is qualitatively different than owning a Mac. Is Apple a corporation interested in its stock price? Yep. But the culture at Apple seems to be different such the user experience is different from that of MS users.

    Yes, and America stole California from Mexico. History will not aid us in this question. The only way out is through dialog between parties who are committed to peace and freedom for all. Until that dialog begins, I think the "terrorism"/"oppression" (killing of innocents on both "sides") will continue.

    I remember reading that even if they used coal to power the grid, which is the dirtiest power source available, electric cars would be better for the environment than conventional engines, if you ignore the considerable issue of the disposal of the batteries. This analysis includes the power loss over the lines. Gasoline powered cars are dirty!

    I don't know how this would work with software, as Bit Torrent files seem to have a half-life of sorts, so that older files might disappear. What ensures that the entire list of files expected is actually available, and how do you browse "the repository" for a project?

    What makes the government think it knows which technology is good for reducing carbon emissions? Just put a cap on pollution, punish polluters, fix the market failure by capturing external costs associated with pollution, and let the market fix the problem efficiently and cheaply.

    Why would you need to boil the water? Water condensed out of the air will be as pure as a distillation kit. In fact the distillation kits condenses the water in the last step.

    Even for engineering, computer science stands out as a discipline that has very low personal interaction, where you interact mostly with a computer and communication with partners is not often the most important of skill sets. Women are biologically more inclined to desire interpersonal social interaction, so they dislike computer science.
