And the NGC (Nintendo GameCube)will also have the GBAPlayer which attaches to the bottom of the NGC and will play all your GBA screens through the NGC on the TV Screen.
Geesh, with all the awesome games on the GBA, you'll be missing out bigtime. Unless games really dont mean much to you. Or just get the GBAPlayer for the GameCube when that comes for 40 bux.
But either way, none of Sonys products are competing with the Gameboy as they're all over $100 and arent specifically for games. They're PDAs first and formost, while games are at the bottom of the list, which is why the Gameboy will never be replaced. Same with the Nokia unit, it's nearly $400-500 and is a clunky phone first, and a game machine second. Wont work.
I remember Akira at the local video rental shop.. It was always out.. Then hits like Vampire Hunter D, Fist of the North Star, Appleseed, and a few others were added.. A few months later their Anime section was as large as the horror section. This was maybe 3-4 years before DVD first appeared. It was going around the schools and such, and I still have my huge VHS bootleg collection.
However, DVD did make it MUCH more accessable. I own them all on DVD now, and there is just so much. The medium is a godsend for stuff like this. But to be fair, it was very very popular on VHS long before DVD was even out.
Even compared to Lynches version, the Miniseries did a while hell of a lot more wrong. The guild ships MOVED? Sorry, they just move through TIME, they dont create warps and fly into them. They are always stationary. They are also HOLLOW, not wide open. Guild Navigators were also horribly incorrect, Lynch was spot on from the novels. It's been a while since i've seen the Miniseries, but I remember nearly every character had a fatal flaw (Outside of the terrible acting) that ruined the series because the screenwriter forgot to actually read the damn novel.
Makes no sense, especially when the jobs can be filled by part time high school kids. When it comes to budgeting state jobs, they really have NO IDEA how to go about it. I think they look at what other companies are paying employees and tripple it! WHY?
They haven't announced, nor even started billing people for it yet. Ask in another year when the first years subscription runs out and you'll see. They expect to be charging between 9.99 to 13.99 per month for XBox Online. Personally, I think this will fail just as well. Free content is being offered for some games, but the rumor is free content will be a small selection of more content people will have to pay for ONTOP of the XBox Live fee. Much like Phantasy Star Online will be charging a monthly fee ontop of Microsofts fee. And this is also why a lot of companies will not make online games for Microsoft because they know people wont be paying two fee's on that service, and they sure as hell wont offer it for free. Instead they're making the games from the PS2 and Gamecube online adaptors.
Would have to agree.. -More-

My girlfriend and two of my other friends are hopelessly addicted to the Sims games. They have bought every expansion pack there is, downloaded every little add-on, talk about it non-stop. one of them would even go near the beta I offered to download for them. (I was trying it out for kicks)
Why?
Because they knew they would have to pay per month for it. Everytime I talk abotu EverQuest, they go off saying i'm an idiot for paying for a game I already payed for. They however, don't know what goes into making a MASSIVE online game and the monthly costs the developers and publishers have to keep paying to keep the servers and bandwidth alive. They could care less, they would just play it if it was free and that is it.
I have concluded that the type of people who play the Sim games, or Myst, or other simple yet addicting games are just the wrong type of people who will simply NOT pay to play these online games. MMORPGs like EverQuest, DAOC, etc have a very technical and geeky and hardcore following who will stop at nothing to slay dragons all day long. To them 10 bux is NOTHING to be a hero with a bunch of other people. Simtype people could care less, they will play a game between watching TV shows, where EQ junkies will just not ever watch TV ever again. They might even be embarrased to be seen online, where the RPG people who dress up in costumes for fan faires feel they are having a blast living their lives.
I expect to see Star Wars Galaxies to be a mixed bag. I think it will be popular because those some AD&D RPG junkies will dig into it, and that alone will be enough to support it, but on the other hand, I think overall the typical "Yah, star wars rox" people who don get into RPGs will stay very far away from it. (Also have 2 die hard Star Wars fans who refuse to even try SWG when it ships, they love online games, but again, they dont get into techincal RPG details, and most importantly, THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR A GAME MORE THAN THE INITIAL COST.) Sales will probably be about half of what they exepect with that as well, but it will STILL be a success with the geek clubs subscribing.
Which means they were hoping software sales could make them float it. Unfortunately, there aren't enough machines on the market to bother to make exclusive titles for. That's why you see games like Splinter Cell go "exclusive" for two months before it's on something else.
Compared to the other memory cards, the Sony sticks are nearly 3 times FASTER than the competitions. You wonder why Sony has been so adament about sticking with them? That's why. Use ANY digital device with them (Cameras etc) and everything you do is instant. Compared to other devices, they are worlds better, and you wonder why no one else isn't switching to Sonys standard. It really sucks because the Memory Sticks kick so much freaking butt.
People that review these games today never slam them as hard as they should. Hopefully the reviewers will be totally honest when they write about the games and just bash the living crap out of the stinkers. And hopefully when games make massive booboo's (Like Everquest devs telling their complaining fans to shut up and buy their expansion to fund their sports car payments..) it will get some MAJOR press and force these halfwits to watch what they're doing a bit more closely. There may be hundreds of gaming sites out there right now, but no one has ever had the press "pull" Harry gets. Kudos to the computer gaming industry having to get their act together or get blasted into oblivion through a major media outlet.

They're getting PERMISSION from the copyright holders to do this. They're not collecting anything. Record companies will say "Hey, you have full right to distribute fake Metallica files" and you know what? It'll be LEGAL. Turn! Brain! On!
Because Nintendo has gone on the record to say they design games for ALL ages. Which is true, who DOESNT want to play a totally fun Mario game? What about Resident Evil 0, or Eternal Darkness with are mature games? Right now the Gamecube has just as many all-ages games as they do mature-ages games. You just need open your mind a bit and play what you think is FUN, and not limit yourself to what other nonesensical JUNK other people say.
The reason Nintendo fans buy their systems is for the Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon type games. These are just geared for all ages. Nintendo tries to capture the largest market and make truely enjoyable products for ALL gamers. I would hate to see big bouncing breast volleyball games with medicore ratings instead of a damn good Mario game.
Since he's referring to that more people want to play mobile GBA games rather than sit at a console in front of a TV. Sales wise, the Gameboys have outsold even the Sony behemoth(s). Meaning, there are more portable game players in the world than console gamers... Sort of.
It's not that it's a majority, or a minority of users that will do this. Microsoft has stated a SINGLE X-Box user needs to purchase over TEN games at NORMAL price (Typically $50) for Microsoft to get ANY profit from that sale.
Even if *one* person mods their X-Box, that in itself does so much damage in the long run it isn't even funny. You simply CANNOT wave this aside and say that since not many people will be doing it, that it doesn't matter. IT DOES, and it will hurt Microsofts bottom line: TO make money!
The fact that you own a Dreamcast should clue you in more than anyone else WHY it is now a defunct system. Because people modded it so heavily and actual software sales never met expectations because of it!
Microsofts sole purpose for selling the XBox (Like other console vendors) is to make profit off of software sold on the system. To sell software on the system, you need to be a licensed developer, which means you need to pay huge sums of money to Microsoft. When you sell a game on the XBox, Microsoft gets a nice cut.
If this chip is indeed legal, and allows anyone to run software other than officially licensed Microsoft XBox software, the XBox will be discontinued and left behind. There will be no reason for XBox owners to buy official software because they can be happy with running various Linux distros or homebrewed games instead. The console industry is NOTHING LIKE the PC industry, and this was Microsofts biggest flaw. They need to make systems so devoid of PC-like architecture that someting like this wouldn't be possible.
With any luck, XBox2 will look and run nothing like a PC, everything will be 100% proprietary, non-Intel, etc.
Nintendo told them to go f*ck themselves because they didn't want any of it, and were interested in making quality games themselves. So MicroSoft decided to design the XBox.
Not console games! Both mediums are entirely different. Trying to mix the two together would be a horrible mistake. I know Microsoft needs games, but come on, who the heck wants to play games that were designed for PCs? They just don't translate well at all. If they wanted to get more games for their XBox, they should be looking into buying Sega, Capcom, Square, Enix, or Konami who are experts and leaders in the console gaming business.
If this does indeed happen, and it's for XBox games, then the console industry is on its way down like when the Atari/Intellivion systems blew it up. It just seems Microsoft has no idea what they're doing in the console industry at all. They're treating it like all games PC games are couch potato games, which they most certainly are NOT.
If they rely on broadband itself, it will not generate enough money to keep it afloat. Microsoft is already starting to feel the pinch of this particular issue. Just not enough user base to make a profit.
Just a FYI for the clueless.. Just because you see someone doing it doesn't mean it's legal. It just means the enforcement is lax. I've had many skateboards taken away for skating on public sidewalks where I live. Bikers get fined bigtime ($70).. You need to be on the street unless you're walking, or it is a designated bike path.
And they go up to 1080i as well. 16x9 widescreen, what else could you ask for at that price? Golden for DVDs as well.
Nintendo has been doing little flip-open portable game systems long before Apple did anything cute with their computers.
