While it's a worry how 1984 society is becoming, I don't think false positives are a particularly bad issue with this technology. An operator who would normally be supposed to watch multiple streams of video for anomalous activity can use these more like bookmarks for subsequent human verification. The bigger issue as I see it is that 16 new patents were just granted on software/algorithms.

IMO JSON is broken if it doesn't accept identifiers, strings or numbers as property names or it doesn't accept single-quoted strings i.e. valid JavaScript object literal syntax. Yes I have RTFRFC, but if you're going to call it JSON then it should follow ECMA-262.

If I tell you that a website must be usable on anything from Opera mini to Netscape 3, including Lynx, Netscape 4, IE 5 to IE 7? That it must look the same in Firefox 3, Safari 3, Opera 9.5 and IE 7.0 on Linux, OSX and Windows? All that without ANY dirty hacks, and must be W3C valid code, what are you going to do?

No problem, except you understand that the requirement for things to be pixel-perfect is retarded. The same reason we can make things work with whatever (known) user agent is graceful degradation - adding layers of functionality. It is better to have a liquid layout that works well on a phone, in a shell or on whatever browser.
