    KDE uses Trolltech software that is owned by Canpy Group which owns SCO. I use both and i will continue to do so. Also Trolltech is not completely owned by said group

    OPIE is not an OS, its a GUI and nobody created Linux for PDAs, its just Linux, so nothing new there either.

    american military bases in europe have there own tv channel which obviuosly shows the super bowl in english. however geramn tv also shows the super bowl and that is not for the benefit of american soldiers, most of them don't understand german anyway. I also doubt that many people will be watching it on german television, because the game is in the middle of the night.

    Where is the border between copying something and creating something ?
    If you apply the same thing to music nothing new has been achieved in the last couple of hundred years. There only 12 notes per octave.
    Same applies to literature : its just a copy and rearangment of the same book over and over again, always the same letters.

    Also with Windows you also double click on an email atachment and the virus is set free (since most people run windows in admin mode).
    Oh no wait .... there is of course outlook wich is so secure that you can not open some attachments but all the rest gets open automatically.

    MS wants to sell its products in europe. To do so they have to obey european laws.
    So if for example european courts deceide that MS has to ship windows without the media player, them MS has to do so or they will get fined.

    I guess the penalty will be some amount completely laughable for microsoft so they will continue doing it their way until some court case gets started that will forbid microsoft to sell anything in europe.

    they did indeed have to "re-up" their MS contract. the main os in the german gouverment had been NT4 and MS does not support that os any more.

    Microsoft wanted the gouverment to switch to XP on the workstations and 2k on the servers.

    For cost efficency and a planned slow switch to linux a compromise was being made. linux for the servers and xp for the workstations ( i hope they use antispy software)

    who needs linux sync software anyway ? by that i mean software which does not integrate whith rest of your linux desktop, and just offers you a not too nice ftp frontend. (and yes i know linux on the desktop is so dead, blah blah, and i like my undead linux desktop a lot)
