There is a significant difference between "easier" and "possible". It's possible to print directly on the packaging but it's easier just to run labels.
The reason adhesive paper labels are used on plastic packaging is because the packaging is molded/extruded; it's difficult to print on not because of the surface but because of the shape.
Synthetic papers take ink quite readibly from most traditional processes.
Halo on PC is not vaporware in comparisson to Halo on the Mac: Mac users have been hearing "Real soon now" from Bungie since 2000, before the Microsoft buyout.
Most states exclude most calls from candidates for office or most registered non-profits (Easter Seals, etc.) Political speech carries much stronger free speech guarantees than commercial (marketing) speech, hence the former. The latter I imagine is in place for at least two reasons: many nonprofits are religious organizations, again a troublesome area for speech rights, and it keeps the states from looking like they hate charities.
There is a professional and sophisticated use for The Gimp as a high-end tool, which doesn't require proprietary colour-space models, or CYMK matching printed output.
Except to my understanding GIMP != Film GIMP. They may share a common lineage but are targetted at entirely different markets. The fact that Film GIMP is fantastic for its userbase doesn't change the fact that plain-old GIMP, while very useful for RGB work, is effectively useless for even basic prepress work.
It seems Lycos found a source of revenue through ad banners and the FBI gets to flash wanted ads while setting a cookie on your computer. Mr. Hoover would be proud. ; )
Right, right --- I'm not pro gun control neccesarily. I'm pro gun owner control. You want to own a gun? Well alright then --- background check and full marksmanship and safety training on purchase of your first gun. Future gun purchases require a background check each time to ensure that you haven't committed any violent felonies, etc. and renewal every four years of a safety/marksmanship certificate by a certified testing facility (i.e., shooting range or, for those in the middle of nowhere, county sherrif or similar law enforcement official.)
First, this shouldn't have been modded as a troll --- it's a valid viewpoint but didn't fit into the Steve Jobs masturbatory camp and was punished for it. Bad mods, no cookie and a lump of coal in your stocking come Christmas.
Second, as another poster has already pointed out, you need to get over the attachment of significance to version numbers.
Now to the meat:
Your point about the upgrade price for existing workstations is way off. Multiple copy upgrade licenses of the major design apps are available on the cheap and, further, not really a cost at all since most agencies, printers, production houses, etc. try to stay relatively up-to-date and, as such, would be buying carbonized versions anyway. (Major exception: Quark 3.x It's stable, it's relatively predictable, and it's an entrenched workflow.) Most of the upgrade cost is going to come in training and shifting into a revised workflow, not in infastructure.
The large-format printer issue is a canard --- most of those printers have their own dedicated RIP which will happily chew-up a PDF. Any production artist worth their salt can dump a PDF in their sleep, even easier if you're running a strict Adobe workflow. (imho InDesign's killer feature: Nowhere near as schizophrenic as Quark when it comes to output problems. Even back in the Quark 3.x glory days we'd run into weird problems where a box would machine-greek if it didn't like where it was layered.)
And further most gun rights advocates in the US would squeal bloody murder if they were compelled by the state to undergo the levels of training required by the Swiss government for its citizen's militia. (there is an appropriate name for the Swiss militia, but I cannot remember it.)
Yes, and part of the "keeping your damned kids from lighting stuff on fire" is buying toys which couldn't serve dual purpose as a flaming, medieval anti-infantry weapon. Yes, damned near everything in a child's world will ignite at a certain point --- but having a toy literally burst into flame after a two second exposure to a relatively cool fire is not safe.
Errr... the Nerf ball ignited after a two second exposure to flame. Nerf Ball became Nerf Ball of Flaming Death after a brief exposure to flame.
You might as well let your kid play with the Big Hard Coal Ball.
I always love it when those ads pop-up on my Mac... you know, it wouldn't be terribly hard to sniff server-side for OS and deliver a customized version....
QuickTime is nothing more than a container for various codecs --- there is no QuickTime encoder per se. The second sentence is just plain wrong: QuickTime Player is a free download.
archaic spelling nazi: it's "just deserts", not "just desserts" --- archaic definition of "desert" but pronounced like "dessert". Look the word up in an unabridged OED.
They weren't thrown out per se: The original trial was suspended due to a national security claim which couldn't be resolved. In his first week or so of offce, Bush I pardoned him in part to help cover Reagan/Bush duplicity in the whole affair. Poindexter would have been retried and fully convicted without the presidential pardon.
Ach yes: source == original. You cannot time/space shift unless you have legal rights to the original copy.
Everywhere else I wouldn't have had to be so careful in my word choice, but this is/. : )
Until the GIMP even begins to approach Photoshop on color management and basic CMYK support, it's effectively a non-issue.

Unless a traffic violation with no serious injury is a Felony in New Mexico. I'm no worshipper of Gates, but jeesh... come on --- that's just libel.
Many of those 78s are old enough to have fallen out of copyright and into the public domain.

due to the fact that Zephram Cochrane ... was exposed to 24th century technology ...
So what you're saying is, "How do we know he didn't invent the stuff?"

The remainder... the remainder would call it fun.
Never mind that the NDHECN still only has limited redundant connectivity. :p

Ah shit, I've said too much.

And the sad thing is that ICQ and Age of Empires run perfectly in OS X.
legal == legal && legal != right
Who modded this guy as a troll? Yeesh.... apparently speaking truth is now being a troll: iTunes does use QuickTime for decoding.
