Is that comment about "Orweillian" socities in the article summary? Seems like it was just flamebait to get everyone riled up about RFID.

Not necessarily divulged information. These studies are worthless because they ignore the very blatant fact that people can and most likely do give false information.
So his machine got "hosed" by spyware and that is somehow the fault of DRM? Last I checked, you can back up your songs from ITunes just like any other data.
Skinner: All right, pick your size: extra small or extra large. We've got both. No pushing, now! I've -- what? [Doris whispers in his ear] Oh. I've just been informed we've run out of extra large.
The article title/summary focuses more on how IE is to blame rather than the real root of the problem, which appears to be Java. I realize this is Slashdot and its Microsoft, but come on.
Wasn't this guy the script kiddie who helped propogate the Blaster worm? How did he find time to get his phd at the University of Iowa? That must have been some rehabilitation. The prison system works!:)
Neither, they aren't doing it. Google is a SEARCH company. Every single one of their ventures have been search related. I believe they hired Ben from Mozilla because he was the UI nazi that made Firefox the success that it is, not because they want to fork a browser.
From the article: "The next version of the Compute Cluster edition will extend to Microsoft's.Net programming infrastructure, letting developers write software using the C# programming language, he said."
I'm not terribly familiar with Conectiva. What does the Mandrake distribution gain with this merger? Just more experienced developers or did Conectiva have certain features that made it attractive? Or are they just combining forces?
This being Slashdot, I didn't RTFA. Why wouldn't they contribute to one of the existing browsers like Firefox or KMeleon. Also, didn't they just release a prototype Netscape browser?
The review didn't touch on security. I think that when you're trying to teach beginners and/or non-programmers how to build web applications, a good foundation on computer security principles is a necessity.
Basic things like input validation and protecting against XSS are a MUST when dealing with PHP (or any language for that matter). Since beginners are the ones most likely to make these mistakes, it is important that they be educated now.
I would assume that you established a contract before starting work with this agency. If they are now in violation of that contract, you have grounds to sue them, correct?
Our project is currently suffering from aggressive scheduling. We are put on too tight of a timeframe to allow even the most minor setbacks. Changing requirements seems to be the nature of the game, and when we dont allot enough time to accomodate these changes, we get into trouble.
Stooping to such levels as to make fun of a mans wife and child publicly on the internet lends ZERO credibility to an argument and makes me lose all respect for a person that would do such a thing.
A study shows that 95% of clients don't know what they want.

He belongs on Slashdot for sure!
How about Tommy Two-Pint?
Ah come on, you can make up statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that.

Plain and simple. Same with all the other Free deals.
Whether you consider the Pyramid Scheme a scam, is up to you.

Who said that?
Anyone notice how people follow Google now like die-hard mac heads follow Apple?
:)
If there is even the slightest whiff of a new feature, the Internet explodes with every forum discussing the possibilities of "what could be."
I don't have a point, I just found it interesting
what exactly?

Why is everyone brushing this off by saying "well you should have known that email isnt secure, tough luck!"
:)
If Hotmail had this bug, everyone here would be up in arms.
Just because email isnt secure doesnt mean this isn't serious. I would hate to think of all the people reading my responses to craigslist postings

I would poop in that persons stocking next year.
Seriously, we had a similiar discussion on this a while ago. Get the person something THEY want, not something YOU think they want.
to all the other states that DONT issue a "unique" drivers license?
