    In the Washingtion D.C. metropolitan area, things are doing well. I received my job right out of college and know others who did the same. This area never really seems to be affected like the rest of the country. Jobs are especially plentiful if you have a clearance of some sort.

    Actually...everything I just said is a lie. There are no jobs in D.C. or Northern Virginia. Stay away.

    I learned perl before I learned python and I found that the OOP constructs in python were better than perl. In perl they just feel bolted on while in python, they are built in from the ground up. Other than that, not much difference in my opinion

    you focus on whats best for your company and ultimately your client by using the right tool for the right job instead of trying to hammer the proverbial square peg (Debian) into the round hole? Sorry to not really answer your question but hobbies and personal preference shouldnt take the place of a better solution (e.g. whatever distro of Linux IBM prefers for their hardware)

    Philadelphia is different than other cities on the east coast in that there is a 'city-like' section that is downtown Philadelphia. There are however a LOT of suburbs that are considered Philadelphia as well...I dont think the article noted whether these suburbs (like West and North) will be covered?

    ...for backwards compatibility. I think they use a lot of their manpower to maintain backwards compatibility for not only their own software, but other high profile apps that run on Windows. I dont really have a solution for them, just felt like pointing that out :)
