I have mod points, but I want to chime in on this topic because I'm in the field and I know what the job market wants.
Here is what you do: Find a University with a Software Engineering program. Software Engineers are in such high demand there are more jobs available for them than there are applicants. Computer Science more like an extension of Math. If you like Math, then ComS is fine, but if you just want to program, you'll find yourself selling yourself short with a typical ComS education.
Next, find out the prerequisite classes for your Software Engineering core classes. Get as much done as you can at a community college. Ask the University if they'll take 3 credits from community college class X as valid for their own Introduction to C/C++ programming class. Do this with every class you take.
Spend 2 years at the University. Generally, you can only transfer in half your credits for B.S. in Software Engineering to the University. Look and see if you're already there.
As a former professor of mine said, "Know your shit." Do an internship or go to a job interview, be nicely dressed, and choose a company you want to work for. That's right, you get to choose where you want to work, rather than taking whatever job is available at companies X, Y, and Z.
Quit complaining about OS X unless you can put in a substitute window manager. You don't have to use Aqua or Quartz, just like the gp implied. Hell, I've booted a desktop mac off of Darwin and run KDE on top of it-–no OS X specific GUI stuff required. If you have the capability, a few simple changes in config files and you be running in X11 with an xterm at log on.
If you can not do that, then you need to hand in your geek card and not post such ignorance.

The doctors know the rules, and if you had just gone to the doctor and asked, there should have been no problem. However, since you asked someone who either (a) did not know how to get the records, (b) did not know if they had the authority to give the records, or (c) you've just made the women's life a lot more complicated, because if she gives you the records herself she may be fired and/or sued. Don't even ask a technician for the results, they probably won't tell you for fear of being disciplined.
Basically, you asked the wrong person for the right information. Always ask the doctor––they can get it to you. He/she ordered the test, he/she is on the top of the totem pole, and he/she can do whatever the hell they want because they have passed board exams, medical school, and have M.D. after their name.

Ask yourself if you really want to do computer science or if you want to program for a living. If you want to program get a Software Engineering degree instead. If you want to be a developer, go for software engineering.

I've had major depression for a long time, and I can tell you chronic insomnia is a symptom of depression. My dad sleeps no more than 5 hours a night, but man, is he ready to go during the day.
Especially with seasonal effects, my sleep cycle gets better in the summer such that I don't have to take sleeping pills to fall asleep.
A common cause of insomnia in depressed people is directly related to the medication(s) they take. Often times, those mess up your whole sleep cycle.
Also, you tend to want to rest more during daytime, so there's a vicious cycle where you don't sleep because you took a nap in the afternoon. Staying active is very important to mental health, just as it is to not being CowboyNeal.
The reason Verisign does all this is to make MONEY. They are running out of revenue streams so they had to create 220 more out of thin air. The whole thing is a racketeering operation where every company ponies up money to protect their trademarks after new TLDs come out. Verisign laughs all the way to the bank.

Anyone can change the admin password with the right tools on both Mac and Windows (I'd assume Linux has that capability, too). However, saved passwords on the Mac are stored inside something called the "keychain" that stores its hash separate from the system's root.
By default, the keychain is configured to have the same password as the person logged in, but if you do the procedure you just described, you'd still need to know the original password to access any saved passwords, certificates, etc.
In other words, if you change the root password with the boot CD/recovery partition other methods and you forget the original keychain password, you're SOL for getting anything good as a result of your work.
With great power comes great responsibility. The difference is that Android largely endows the customer with that power, while Apple largely reserves it for themselves. There are benefits and drawbacks to both.

About all this Credit Card stuff... Spending money and completely paying off a credit card is very good for your credit rating. When I was 18, I got a secured $300 credit card. I have since graduated to a much much higher limit, and my credit rating is extremely high, especially considering I've taken out zero loans.
Using credit is an investment for things like home and auto loans. Lower interest rates come with people who are shown to pay off their bills in a timely manner. I've never once been late, and I plan to enjoy low interest rates when I finally decide to buy a house. The bottom line is that you have to be responsible or else the whole scheme falls apart.
