Actually, the first "Cookie Monster" appearance was before this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cookie_Monster):

"In 1966, Henson drew three monsters that ate cookies and appeared in a General Foods commercial that featured three crunchy snack foods: Wheels, Crowns and Flutes. Each snack was represented by a different monster. The Wheel-Stealer was a short, fuzzy monster with wonky eyes and sharply pointed teeth. The Flute-Snatcher was a speed demon with a long, sharp nose and windblown hair. The Crown-Grabber was a hulk of a monster with a Boris Karloff accent and teeth that resembled giant knitting needles. These monsters had big appetites for the snack foods (like cookies) they were named after. Each time the Muppet narrator, a human-looking fellow, fixes himself a tray of Wheels, Flutes and Crowns, they disappear before he can eat them. One by one, the monsters sneak in and zoom away with the snacks. In 1967, Henson used the "Wheel-Stealer" puppet for an IBM training film called Coffee Break Machine. In the sketch, called "The Computer Dinner", the monster (with frightening eyes and fangs) devours a complex machine as the machine describes its purpose and construction. At the end of the sketch, the talking machine explains that its primary purpose is to produce the greatest explosion known to man. The monster promptly explodes. This sketch was also performed in October, 1967 on The Ed Sullivan Show. It was also later performed on the George Burns episode of The Muppet Show using the Luncheon Counter Monster. Two years later, Henson pulled the puppet out of the box again for three commercials selling Munchos, a Frito-Lay potato chip. This time, the puppet was called Arnold, the Munching Monster. After the three ads were produced, Henson had the opportunity to renew the contract. He chose not to, because at that point he was working on Sesame Street — and that monster puppet was moving on to the next stage in his career."

Well, I can say that your wrong on that point. I purchased an xServe from apple for my company, and I also got a 3 year support contract with it. lets see what it covers:
AppleCare Premium Service and Support Plan. Integrated service and support for Xserve or Xserve RAID hardware and Mac OS X Server software

One number to call for help, day or night

One team to diagnose hardware failures and software configuration issues for fast problem resolution

30-minute response on email and telephone calls

Onsite hardware repairs with 4 (four) hour response time Provides consultative phone and email support for advanced Mac OS X Server integration and migration issues.

Yes, i have had to have my xServe serviced, and they were there in the allotted time, And I also get excellent detected phone support. That was all for my own personal business. I also work for a school:

Maybe you have not had the opportunity to work directly with Apple's education channel, but it's a little more then ok, and far from whacked. For the last 5 years, I have been purchasing computers for my program directly through the education channel and am pleased with thier service. I have an education sales agent assigned to me that helps me coordinate all my purchases, and an educational consultant to help me build solutions to work in my special environment. They've even provided me with possible funding sources for certain purchases.

It basically works by automatically clicking when the cursor "dwells" over an item on the screen. Speed and choice of right or left click can be selected using an on screen palate. Give it a try, it may be just what your looking for. BTW- they have a free trial on their site.

The built in modem on the G3s and G4s are real serial modems. The modem shows up as a serial port. I have used the gPort product in the past to replace the modem with a serial port. Here is a little snipet explaining how they work (emphasis is mine):
The gPort and g4Port adapters provide standard Mac serial ports that are compatible with all Mac serial devices. They support all Apple and third party serial and localtalk printers(Mac OS 9), midi devices, as well as any other serial device that works on a Mac.
The gPort, g4Port, and CubePort use the modem slot on the G3, G4, or G4 Cube so they provide "board level" compatibility, even supporting Localtalk file sharing and printing to your existing Localtalk printers in Mac OS 9.
