first off, i'm guessing you meant heat pipe, second off, heat != temperature. the cpu may run cooler, but it still puts out the exact same amount of heat.

Run a big HVAC and hook it up to those pipes, and all of a sudden you have A/C cooling directly on your chips, and its more quiet to boot.

ok, these arent exactly pvc pipes, they are heatpipes, which are sealed and run up and into a little heatsink. also, even if you could somehow plumb these into some a/c setup, it would not be good. cold+hot == condensation, and we all know how electronics love condensation.

this review is pretty lame IMO, they failed to review: both sparkle and pc power & cooling, probably two of the highest regarded names in power supplies, while at the same time they reviewed such no-name junk as "engelking", "coba", "channel well", "scs", "task", and "levicom".

and the summary is also quite worthless. basically they recommend 3 no-name brands as the "winners", no one is going to buy these due to availability and/or fear of no-name brands, while THG also recommends antec psu's to those who cannot find the others, which is also stupid because people already buy antecs in droves.

also we have the issue of rebranding. many power supplies on the market are simply rebranded no-name power supplies, how do we know that just because one "herolchi" power supply tested well, all others will also be top quality? the different herolchi models could be from completely different manufacturers!

i've tried most of the wm's around, with the exception of ion and ratpoison, due to what seem to be obvious conflicts between my idea of an ideal desktop, and ion/ratpoisons developers' idea of it.

i used blackbox more than any other, moved to pwm, liked it (impressively customizeable) but it had some shortcomings, moved to sawfish, loved the key/mouse binding flexibility (double click root window for an xterm woo hoo!!), but it was slow on my little p233 when the system is under full load. now i use openbox, with 2 modifications i made to it:

    1. moving/resizing a window does NOT raise the window. i dont like not having control over window stacking like that, leave the damn thing where it is. what if i have a window partially overlapping another window, and i want to resize the bottom window? i have to resize it, and THEN fix the stacking because the wm did it for me? stupid.
    2. the mouse wheel now allows me to manually control window stacking. alt+wheelup sends the window to the bottom, alt+wheeldown brings it to the front. as usual with openbox and almost all wm's, alt+leftmousebutton moves the window, and alt+rightbutton resizes it. *VERY* handy.

like anything else, its not for everyone, but its _PERFECT_ for me.

(btw, while i doubt many people have the same preferences as me, if you use openbox and are interested in the patch, feel free to email me, mack-at-incise.org, or come into #openbox on freenode)
