Indeed. I find it also pretty compelling that Nintendo has struck out on their own path while the Xbox and PS fanbois have a pissing contest about which one has better graphics. Nintendo is focusing on games, the other two are focusing on graphics. I'll likely own a Revolution before either of the others.
I'm considering it because I'm new to Linux and my home computer is not hooked up to the internet. Using Google means either running back and forth to the other computer or finding answers during lunch. Sitting down with an actual book is still a handy thing, and will continue to be so, regardless of how helpful google can be.
If you pick up a Cube, you need to get Super Smash Brothers Melee. One of the funnest multiplayers you will ever play. If you get no other game, get that one.
At least that's what the marketing weenies tell us. Simply put, PDA's ain't chic. Once the iPod fad fades (in a little less than a year if you're the betting type), their sales will stabilize and then generally decline. That's the difference between a trend and a fad. I think mp3 players are a trend, iPods, a fad. Not that anyone, save slashdot, asked...

All I can relate is my own experience. When I play a UT LAN party with a group of friends, I suck. Near the bottom everytime using the mouse/keyboard combo. If I play a round of Halo with a group of friends, I finish in the top 3 everytime. Folks can argue it, but for me, I am much, much better with a console controller than with a keyboard and mouse. Since the new Xbox 360 controllers will attach via USB and be usable on PCs, I'm sure my experience is not unique.
What I have noticed in the debate, somewhat akin to your statements, is that PC gamers are quick to point out all the benefits of their sytem whilst the console gamers really don't care and just want to play. YMMV, take with heavy doses of NaCl, opinion invalide in MN, OH, & HI, see store for details.
I'm going to go against the grain a bit, but I agree with you. I never really liked FPS on PC, but have found that I really like them on the consoles. A contoller makes more sense to me than a mouse/keyboard combination. I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference (ie, taste) and you will never convince either camp that the other is correct.
I started reading slashdot around '99 but I didn't read it very regularly until recently. I don't ever remember seeing it before, and thought it was soemthing new. Thanks for the correction;-)
If this were Fark, there'd be an obvious tag next to this. The problem is that the same people they're reporting this to are the ones consciously causing the problem. Until that changes, we can look forward to an across the board increase in ignorance.
Or as my friend used to say, "Say I have an infinite number of marbles in pocket, and I decide to give you half of them. I still have an infinite number of marbles in my pocket."
I wonder if Nintendo is actually going to win the next gen console fight. By the time Sony and MS have finished beating each other to death trying to appeal to the hardest core 1% of the gaming market, I'd predict that there will be some pretty big slices of pie left over for the company whose console is cheaper, more intuitive, and has games that instead of being the most visually stunning FPS shooter evar (sans plot and gameplay) are just fun.

I don't think anyone would want a kilobyte, let a lone a terrabyte, of CowboyNeal pr0n.

I had never even heard of it. Thanks for the recommend!

Er, so #6 isn't a habit for you? Maybe you should get some more fiber in the diet;-)
'nuff said.

When did the vacuum icon appear. I can't remember having seen it before, but then I realized, "Oh yeah, this story sucks."
Yeah! With the exception of Eaters of the Dead (on which The 13th Warrior is based), you've now read all of his novels;-)

Sweet! Even better is they have it at the local library;-)
Someone opened the box. It's dead.
Any day you get to correctly use "fucktard" in a sentence, be it with the family, at work, or on slashdot, is a good, good day.
THose thoughts aside, I can recommend The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell which revolves around Jesuits and ETs. Good read.
Netcraft just confirmed it- your milk's expired.
At least you can look forward to getting Duke Nukem Forever before it expires. Maybe.
Does that mean that all the others only accelerate 2D audio?
No matter how many CPUs they throw at it, Jackson's King Kong remake will nenver rival the hilarity of K-Y's remake. Funniest late night ad, ever.
Too true. And Mario Baseball certainly doesn't help! That being said, I bet if you could get them playing SSBM, they'd all be hooked in no time;-)
I think the format wars are just the beginning.
