The original version of the A-6 Intruder had some sort of non-digital ballistics computer, the AN/ASQ-61. It evidently would freeze and require a reboot by kicking a certain area of the cockpit floor. The computer had a mechanical drum that actually got stuck and needed to be "booted" in order for it to get going again.

Told to me by a pilot, I can't verify via a quick google.

I disagree with the OP as well. Soviet technology is quite robust. What better model for a fledgling space program that doesn't have to worry about accidents condemning them in the court of citizen's approval.

If you plan to do this at a hotel, find out who is in charge of building maintenance. Not the guy in the suit, if you know what I mean. Involve him in your power testing that let him know what type of load you expect. In general these guys know their stuff and will give you some good info straight off. (and if he turns out to be a she please give her my email addy)

Also remember, in a hotel tipping is everything to service. You probably won't have to clean a rented conf. room at the end of a party, but to get some busboys in and out to empty bags on a regular basis will take a little grease.

Both schools require a minimum of number of credits to be taken "with" the university. NC tuition cost was about $10K (US) and CS about $5K.

It seems these are "degree-completion" programs. All of these completion programs must run off the same playbook. They offer some sort of BBS degree that is heavy on the Total Quality Management garbage that we couldn't escape in the 90's.

I can't agree with your statement. Max Payne, Medal of Honor, Deus Ex were not crap. I could list many others. You say they cost too much money AND they take too long to play through? Most gamers want lengthy games. Paying $60 and getting 8 hours of gameplay isn't my idea of money well spent. They almost never work properly? Back in the early-mid 90's this was true but in the last 5 years I've found that the majority are pretty stable at release.

Cracked games on Kazaa usually lack the sound and video that makes for a rich gameplay experience. The cracks make them buggy and/or lock you out from online play. Additionally, everyone and their brother renames old garbage files as the latest releases so that they get "credit" for the uploads.

As much as /.'ers love to pick on Windows, I find XP to be a stable and excellent platform for graphics rich, content filled gaming. Say what you will about consoles, but games look better on my PC every time. Console graphics aren't as good as a decent PC.
