    If you try to buy a tape nowdays, its anyware from $4-8, DVD's are two to three times more expensive. Tapes are now the discount way to buy a movie.

    When microsoft made the IE 6 Beta, I foolishly downloaded it and found I could not get to 99% of the pages on microsofts own website! (saying I could ONLY get to that page with IE 5.5)

    If I remember correctly, HDTV eat up 2 channels of analog spectrum to make it work. Also our local PBS station was complaining about it using twice the power to get the same distance out of their broadcast antenna.

    at .1 mm, that is really thin outer layer compared to the old DVD specs. And is 25 gig's enough? 1.44 megs was good enough until 600 megs. That was good until 8 gigs. This is only at best only 5 times bigger than DVD, not 400 or 13 times bigger than old jumps in storage.

    1% failure rate is impressive. I've had 4 machines that I was hoping SP2 would "fix" and didn't help at all. And several machines that were broken after SP2. In the old days a good rule of thumb was that windows 98 would self destruct after a few years. Now a good rule of thumb is Win XP will self destruct with the first teenager that browses the internet with it.

    I have someone trying every email address (jon@site.com, jim@site.com) looking for ones to spam (or maybe to spam from!). Is there any way to stop that one?

    Companies don't have to worry about you playing CD's on your computer, or time shifting anything if it's a media edition PC.

    I had one domain where a spammer was "fishing" for names to spam, and thought that every name they tried was a valid e-mail so they spammed every name. (this domain only had 3 emails and the 1 catch all) They ended up sending 30,000 spams a week to all of the e-mail addresses they thought they had found! It doesn't matter if your spam filter is 95% good, that would still be 1,500 spam getting though.

    It could be not a gain in Mozilla, but a drop in the number of IE machines that still function. IE lets so much adware/spyware in that a lot of machines will cease to function at all.

    Books in Texas are used on average for 10 years. So that $350 per kid turns into $35 per kid per year. How long do you think a laptop will be 'usable' Four years would make $337 per kid per year. Only 10 times the price, what a deal.

    If you do live out in the boonies, you may only connect at 24,000 baud... You thing the 1 second lag time is unacceptable!

    The dish network boxes do not encode the video stream, that might be enough to avoid the lawsuit.

    Ah yes, I have 2 computers with that problem, mac and PC. Don't go for the "full screen"; "Large" works just fine.

    Actually, since texas de-regulated, most big buidlings and large consumers of power have not gotten a power bill (since Janurary) I don't know how the power companies are staying in business. The problem is that the central agency for keeping the meter data can not get the information back out the the power companies to send out bills! Funny thing is that the residential billing seems to be working, only companies that use more than a megawatt seem to be affected with the blight of free power.

    The game you are refering to was probabably Specter, it got away with full 3D by making the 3D window 1/6 of the screen. Lots of scrollers for the apple II, the only advantage the apple II had was page flipping built in!
