Go with the iRiver H320. Looks like a brick, yes, but has brilliant audio quality and ships with Sennheisers & a gazillion other things that you have to buy separately with most other players. Also very durable.
They might've phased it out, though...would be a shame if they have.
Could you define "recent"? The not-running-Linux part I can understand....usage of Linux is still pretty low here in India...but Windows 95 and 98? Please...In the past year or so, I must have seen maybe 5 machines running Windows 98, and none at all running 95...this includes two companies I've worked with, and about 500 computers at the campus where I'm studying (including students' personal computers, not just lab computers)...
Btw, on campus, not a single person is running on Linux....quite a few dual-boots, though...
The "upset" is the fact that the ruling party in India, the NDA, came crashing down when quite a few polls were predicting a decent win for them. The opposition party, the Congress, wasn't expected to get too many seats in parliament, but they're the single-largest party in parliament now - that's the upset being talked about. The upset has nothing to do with the issue of EVM's being used.
>>Question: When robotic brains are developed to the point of surpassing humans, making the humans obsolete in every way, how do you think the humans will react?
My answer depends on whether you choose to take the red pill or the blue pill.
Somehow I feel that the Sci-Fi that came closest to an "LOTR in space" was the Dune series by Frank Herbert (and later carried on brilliantly by Brian Herbert, a marked difference from Christopher Tolkien in his story-telling abilities)...the number of different entities involved and the excellent characterisation of each of them, the gripping storyline....Dune is definitely up there as one of the greatest Science-fiction novels ever.
I work for a news network in India that has both English/Hindi channels. We use a software called Ism2000 by CDAC, and I don't know if it supports an ASCII layout or not, but the layout we're using is non-ASCII. And I've seen people at work who were never computer-friendly to begin with, settle down with Hindi typing within a day or two. Basically, it's all just a matter of getting used to a layout. I type in hindi on this interface, and never skip a beat when switching from the non-ASCII layout for Hindi to the ASCII English layout. Personally, I've tried iLeap, and never liked using the ASCII layout...took me quite some time getting used to, but the layout we're using in office (don't know if it was pre-configured or specially designed by my company's tech department....some geek I am huh) took me much less time to get working with.
Well, I'm glad someone's being honest about it. Unlike the GRE people - they've cancelled the Advanced GRE in Computer Science for India and China this year, supposedly because "the Indians were sharing GRE questions on the internet". Their spokesperson said there was no discrimination, since they were confident that "these sites could not be accessed by people anywhere else outside of Indian and China".
Excuse me? I didn't know we had a special continent-wide network here that's inaccessible outside....
....and another thing: stop charging me double the price for a double CD. For some reason I refuse to believe that the artist gets twice the royalty when he cuts a 30-song album; yet we end up paying almost twice the amount because the music is sold on two two-bit CD's instead of one.

Hey, guess what! I think the phrase "H1-B visa" just ended up beating "Linux" as the most used phrase on off-topic posts; just drag it into any discussion and start blaming Indians for anything ranging from high unemployment to high oil prices to global warming to the dodo's extinction.
And Meg Ryan, too!
>though the talk you hear about it is... a heated discussion at the very least
So the talk on water vapour is all hot air? I'm not surprised.
>Why are we paying credence to the likes of Variety on a geek site? And frankly, who cares what they think?
Instead of invoking Ad Hominem, why not criticise what you don't like about the article itself?
I just hope the tether doesn't bring the shadow squares down with it.
Apple has included...in their contracts...must respect human rights...is simply a PR strategy for the Apple-hostile media.
Captain Kirk...is that you?

Could Slashdot *please* introduce a (-1, Fanboy Alert) mod point?
Unless your apps were written by God Himself, they will fail on you.
Even that's not true - Jesus saves...

Britney Spears as the father? That's going to take a *lot* of convincing...or a mean bit of surgery.

Slashdot, wonderful slashdot....where else would the parent post be called "informative"?

If the prequel comes after the sequel....does, in this case, pre-production happen after post-production?
Funny graphic....Reminds me of a Dave Barry article on TTT, here
Amazingly funny article.....

Funny that you should mention a "Good will Visit" : I just found out yesterday that Bill Gates is in fact coming to India next month.
That sounds like fun.

Yes I am right....it was developed by Sabeer Bhatia, an Indian. Check up all you want.
Yeah...I wonder why all Indians aren't running to a site that has a name which roughly translates to "Buttocks Enjoyment".com....
