    They don't really understand, or even read it.
    They choose a bit here and there, have their PR flacks craft a statement, then hand you a shit sandwich.
    If you have to eat it you complain, if the guy you disagree with has to eat it then you vote the crap feeder in again.
    If people truly cared about fairness they would not elect or reelect such people.

    It looks like the U.S. school system isn't for education.
    Teachers in my state are refusing to use standardized testing, which their students are failing.
    Whatever means they use for grading these students I can't help but notice they generally can't do math, can't write worth a shit, and expect to get a job as a manager because they graduated with a 3.3 - 4.2 GPA.

    What safety?
    Most (if not all) revolvers I have seen have no safety.
    Many semi-automatic pistols have no safety.
    You may not be familiar with current firearms so, if you are curious; not all have a safety.
    Additionally there are many variations on what a gun safety is.
    Depending on model and manufacture there may be none, a lever that locks the trigger, a trigger actuated safety, and or a grip safety.
    These are also applied in various combination's and merely represent some of what I have seen recently.

    My neighbors smoke all day and apparently all night.
    Cigarette butts are every where, it turns out Earth is their ashtray.
    Cigarette butts, wrappers, random crap from their lawn is blown all over the neighborhood.
    They have so much time to smoke and litter because they don't have to waste time working.
    I have to work, they are all much younger, why do I have to pay for their housing, vehicles, food, smokes, phones, and so on?
    I will never make enough to be able to retire in the comfort they already enjoy.
    Screw the smokers and screw politicians that buy voters by making them dependent.

    Speaking of spelling, why would I hire an American with a STEM degree?
    Looking at their ability to communicate I know they cannot read or write.
    It would be foolish for me to believe the education system that graduated them somehow did not also fail to teach them how to reason or do anything of value in a technical field.
    Over paid, over fed, think they are geniuses, can't get to work on time or on a regular schedule, need the rest of the day off....
    What's not to like?

    When well funded school systems 'pass' students that cannot read or write, that's child abuse.
    When well funded school systems refuse to use standardized tests because their students always fail them, that's child abuse.

    Yes, I know what teachers and administrators get paid, that data is freely available.
    Claiming that the education failures in the U.S.A. are because there isn't enough funding is like listening to the alcoholic complain that she just needs more booze.
