    I have actually seen that the Vista gui can be turned on to look like Windows 2000 just like XP is also capable of.

    Reason to upgrade, I can't think of one except Direct X 10.

    Probably not PayPal's fault but IRS regs at fault here. They think it's income since no non profit paperwork was done.

    I think they did listen, but let the calculator decide. To build and maintain Category 5 protectection for New Orleans would cost more than occosionally rebuilding it when anything above Category 3 hits. That is why they are still only building Cat 3 protection. I think 10 years would be an optimistic estimate of how long it would take. Hell, some of New Orleans leaves dated back to 1718.

    Listening and being able to actually do something about it are two different things.

    I used to use PFM before that. It looks like somebody is trying to keep it alive here.

    I had forgot about XTG for windows (I don't think it had the CLI), but now I remembere what a dog it was. Most of us just got the DOS version working on windows and stayed with the 8.3 file naming for a few years. It had some great viewers. It even had an AutoCAD one. Ztree can use external viewers.

    I never tried NC though some said it was better than XTG.

    Wrong! I have the 3.0 version running with XP Pro. Of course long file names are not supported. Mapped drives however, do work.

    The windows version is called ZTree.

    It still comes in handy for viewing old file formats.

    It is usable still.

    I think a satelite is being sent up that may settle quasar distance questions, but I can't remember the name of it.

    Also, I think it uses seperate points of refernce that are not tied to the earth per say.

    That could be why it wasn't warmer in the 70's. More particles in the atmosphere means radiation can't get through. If I'm not mistaken coal plants have scrubbers on them now so the sky is clearer. In the 1970's in Detroit, I think I've seen it snow brown instead of white.

    As everyone here knows, this is complete nonsense.

    Now for the real story:

    There hasn't been new power generated here in the US since the 1930's. That's what the two wires are for. The elcetric company sends power done one wire and sells that electricity to you. Then after you pay they simply retrieve it from the second wire and the whole process repeats itself.

    So you are not buying power. You simply rent it. It doesn't go bad so unless they loose it they get to sell it back to you again and again.

    Once again it's THE SAME POWER not MORE POWER again and again.

    True..but..I think as well

    there was an issue about the rods that the decks were hung from being multiple pieces instead of a single one line the original design called for thereby doubling the load on the connectors themselves.

    Uh, also I don't think he is saying that Microsoft is going away anytime soon just that their stock price has flatlined for 5 years and will continue to do so. After all he wasn't writing to slashdot's audience but instead to the audience of MarketWatch.

    I think if the current ISP's do this, then Google, Yahoo, Ebay etc. will simply build their own networks. It would be cheaper in the long run for them to do this IMO than to rely on SBC, Verizon, etc.

    So,

    As long as more people buy Apple hardware because of this, Apple will continue to sell it. After all they make most of their money on hardware. iPods now run work with PC's too. So they sell even more.

    I'm not saying whether what you are doing is right or wrong, I would do the same myself.

    What is an issue is that at a very young age some kid can be ruined for life for defending themselves in this state if you have teachers and/or administrators that could just care less.

    But he might get into other trouble.

    Here in Virginia, he might even get locked up for just self defense. At the very least he would have to go to in school detention whether he started the fight or not.

    I assume most other states have a zero tolerance policy too.
