I often copy gigabytes of stuff between 2 old PCs with motherboard integrated intel gig-e port,an XP & a windows 7 upgraded one, and I'm copying at around 110MB/s. It might be a network interface problem on their side, or maybe the switch they were using aren't that good (got 2 cheap 24 ports switch between those computers here ) or sometimes the cabling could be to blame. Maybe the hard drives could not support more than this either..
They detected it 650LY ago in our system reference, as I made no specific system reference. That means that what they saw was 1.3M years ago here at that point in time. Thats why I was referring to such an old type of homo (xxxxx). And yes, I was considering that their technological advancement allowed them to be both invisible and almost as fast as the speed of light. I'm not sure how you could have missed that ?
Yep, and that's why I used the Australopithecus sediba reference, as we know they were on earth up to 1.988 million years ago! I could have used the homo erectus, which were well represented from 1.5M years ago to 0.2M.. Anyway =)
My real name is much longer than usual, and I'm also often carrying a camera with a 50-500mm lens. That means I'm always selected for a special random check before getting on any plane due to my name, and that I get the extra security checks for everything I bring with me everytime I have that lens. I agree that most of the time it's done humanly, as I've had only 1 bad experience so far (beside the hours I can sometime lose). In that specific case, it was a special random check (2 per flight, and I keep getting chosen both ways.. so, yeah.. random...) in France, by a US TSA guy who was quite unhappy to be working there. He pulled me out of the queue, pushed me around and I knew it would not be funny, but I was lucky as 2 french guys with rifles entered the room and started talking to me in french.
I guess that as he could not understand our conversation he felt a bit intimidated and the remaining of the procedure was more in line with what I'm used to. It's far from being as bad of what I heard, but that's what happened to me and I still feel bad whenever I have to go through TSA checkpoints.
The problem is that it self record itself as the default player everytime it udpates or start or whatever, and that's the worst player ever built in windows. Anyway.
You might chose to download it without quicktime (both of them, when I last did), but then the updater would keep popping up with optional downloads of quicktime whenever a new patch for either of the previously installer was available..
We had a course in 2003, where we had to use a few panels to provide electricity for a specific device we where to built. We were made well aware that a static orientation toward the mean would be the easiest to built, but the less performing one, that a tracking device power would eat quite a chunk of the extra electricity we would be generating, and that we could explore tons of other orientations, even to get our inspiration from the trees.
Anyway, as the illumination was controlled it was possible to solve a (not so simple) system of equations to calculate how to gather the maximum possible energy, and I remember that a team had used the fibonnaci sequence for the kick of it:)
Starting in 2012, standars would slowly keep increasing until reaching the peak in 2020. So, that means that none should have yet disappeared, and depending on their caracteristics some of them could still be sold for a while. Anyway, that was all in TFA, but this is slashdot, so, that was expected:)
I dislike Audioholics as they are not very scientific in a lot of tests.. Just take a look at that graph, with the axis labelled Cables > 3m while they are referencing Cables 3m... Anyway.. =)
60% of the people use those randomly found USB keys in their office computer, and if the icon was official looking, 90% of them installed the applications found on it... What a good trojan attack!
If they didn't .. we wouldn't be here!
Actually, they seem able to track bittorrent download much more accurately than tv sets showing a specific movie.. so that could work for them!

lol yeah, I forgot that I had initially used the parent poster 1/1000 of the speed of light for their speed, not ~speed of light.

They've been on their way since they detected Australopithecus sediba, 649,999 years and 364 days ago, all the while using an invisibility cloak.
The others weren't australians ?
You were lucky. I failed quite a lot of times !

As it will be winter, why not use a snowmobile ? You could bring a lot of things with you :)
How are you gonna be waken up if all the wake up calls are sent to your voicemail ? :)
I had the same WTF moment lol :)

It was well recorded on the University Laval (Quebec) seismograph:

If the problem would have been solved by simply lighting a match, the question is, why didn't you ?
I`d side with you about apple not being a reputable company, as they also keep bundling Quicktime with other downloads (Safari ? iTunes ?). Anyway..

I guess you could say he wouldn`t do a thing..

Hey, long time no see..
BTW, you forgot to add the chiropracy to the list of things we found out are bad for people!
Lynx is where the fun`s at!
