The WINDOWS server needs too much hands-on TLC to do remotely (yes, I now about VLC but it's too painfully slow and VNC does not support 120 reset), and the workstations^Wusers also need dace-to-face help. ANother guy is doing this.
It might work if the users don't mind getting their hands dirty once in a while (tunnel ssh through PSTN).
Calling the ability to convert analog video content to a digital format a "significant technical weakness in content protection,"
In other news, calling "the ability to choose not to watch crappy movies" a "signifficant weakness in our buisness model", the **AA are calling for critical thinking to be outlawed.
Your boss, however, may decide that Trusted Computing fits his needs perfectly.
Then you'd better explain to him that he's not the top of the foodchain, and that there may be someone above him who's even more keen on "trusted computing" so that she can keep an eye on him!
You're assuming they'll even bother to do anything but re-master using the DVD they've already got lying around.
Most people will just buy it, watch it and swear it looks better.......
... that Microsoft is really stupid enough to do this?
Push the country with the most degrees per capita (I think I heard that somewhere once, that's close enought to being a fact for the 'net:-) towards OSS?
yeah... keep dreaming.
You still have to burn the DVD's individually, irrespective of whether you burn 99.99% same (the encrypted movie) and 0.01% differnet (the encrypted key) or 100% differnent (the movie overlayed w/ unique data).
The bottleneck is the individual burning.
The "differnet key" method uses less CPU than the "different overlay" method, but who cares about that?
It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes of looking at the menus - which are almost identical for most end-user functionality anyway - to grok OpenOffice.
I used to think that way. Then I had to use windows after a year or so on Linux.
Everything just felt wrong. It's not that I couldn't do stuff, it's just that it was different (and therefore, by definition, worse that what I was used to:-)
Yoda is still a crybaby.
He looses his cloak while fighting the emporer and decides that he better go hide.
Anakin looses his ARMS AND LEGS and still goes on fighting!
As for the hiding places they found for the twins (the twins were a surprise? ever heard of an ultrasound?).... Anakins step-family and one of the rebel leaders. Great thinking, guys!

"Software without source is like Russian Roulette without empty chambers"
Sort of popped into my head (pun intended) after I heard about the SONY rootkit.
This was posted before!
oops... my bad. Not a dupe, that one was about the old XBox.........
Make your car even harder to find in the carpark!
Strange thing, they do fight over which is better, vi or that other editor.
This is exactly the kind of shoddy, one-sided, hate-mongering, flame-war-enciting parenting that turn perfectly sane children into gentoo users!

No dude, this is
Apparently it's _supposed_ to look like that!

Windows 95
Windows 98
Windoes NT
Windows ME
Windows 2K
Windows XP
Windows 2K3

UID of 10 and you still haven't found anything better to do with your time than hang out with a bunch of ... well ... us?
Who in their right mind would want to replace a Ricky Martin CD?
The same person who bought one in the first place?
I could become invisible
Only to people who have listened to SONY CD's.
Apart from the obvious "how do you press the on/off/reset button" and "how do you remove CD 1 and insert CD 2"....
How the heck can you read a logfile with all those timezone changes?
I fear you have mixed up 2 senses of the work "revolting", as in
Run for your lives, the robots are REVOLTING
and
Blech! that's totally REVOLTING

They're individually encrypting them now, so it's no more overhead.
Was the mistake due to incompetence or malice though?
I prefer:
Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. Any sufficiently advanced malice is indistinguishable from incompetence.

I recomend you outsource the handling to someone else.
