  1. Hard to find available .com domains these days on 100,000 Domains Sold for $164 Million · · Score: 2, Interesting
I find it is almost impossible to buy a .com domain anymore, at least one that isn't just a random bunch of letters. And the problem is that almost everything you try will just end up going to a site with a load of ads and not pertaining to the subject matter of the domain name at all. Maybe there should be a rule against this... buying a domain JUST to put up ads should be illegal.

But I suppose when one is googling, the easiest thing to do to find good results is to NOT click on .com links, instead go for the .org links which usually contain actual information.

Hey, since we're on the topic of domain sales, I own customalbum.com and it's for sale. Never did anything with it. Anyone have ideas for what I could do with this domain (other than try to sell it)?

maybe they should all switch to Linux. Security problems solved. Or not. Well, I'm confused now with the recent slashdot articles telling me Windows is more secure, and then that Windows is insecure.

Just kidding. I don't believe the that "Windows is more secure" shit for a minute.

  4. Tux Magazine gone on 'Make' Premier Issue · · Score: 2, Interesting

I had purchased a subscription to the new Tux Magazine (first issue was supposed to come out this month) and got a letter in the mail last week saying they had not gotten enough subscriptions to make it viable, so it would be pdf only. Anyway, they refunded my money. But really, I don't care about reading pdf versions of magazines... there is a reason I like the dead-tree kind, you can lie back in bed while you read them.

  16. actually... on Bill Gates Claims OSS Has Poor Interoperability · · Score: 1

OSS software has great *ability* for interpolation... whether some big name OSS products do it properly or not is another question. It is very easy to make an OSS product interpolate with any other OSS product. The code is all there to be seen and modified, nothing is hidden (as with Microsoft products). As the OSS community grows, there will be more and more adherence to standards, while Microsoft goes on pushing their proprietary "interporable" products. In the long run, OSS will win.
