XMLHttpRequest isn't very intuitive.
The other better technologies which have been in development will now have an impossible time getting ground to stand on. I fear we will never get out of this now:(
Why is Blu-ray using MPEG-2? Wouldn't they get higher def or longer movies if they standardized around XVID or some other variant of MPEG-4? It seems like a terrible waste.
This release has been in testing for quite some time. Though I admit to not using it for massively complex queries, I havn't gotten any grief from it.
Here is a snip from the last email I got on it: Our goal was to have 30 customers deployed on SQL Server 2005 by the time we launched. Today, we have more than 50 customers deployed on SQL Server 2005, including Barnes & Noble, Mediterranean Shipping Company, Xerox, and others in the process of migrating or upgrading their systems. These customers range in size from very small organizations, under five employees, to large enterprises running multi-terabyte mission critical systems. This demonstrates the value companies, large and small, can achieve using SQL Server 2005. We encourage you to read about some of the interesting things these companies are doing today with SQL Server 2005 at www.microsoft.com/casestudies.
No kidding. Anyone remember when you could get a top of the line Voodoo for $150? How did the normal top price shoot up to $500? And the "low cost" to $250?
It's not true. What is happening is integrated support for DRM video, so you may have to buy a new LCD in a couple years in order to play certain DRMed content. Or get a crack. I'm sure there will be one.
I think it would be really cool to see a sound card that can simulate sounds bouncing off walls. Not entirely important but the more immersive the better.
Soundstorm gave us a bit of hope but noone knows if that'll ever come back. I'm sure many gamers would just love to keep Creative bloat out of their system.
The lists got a bit inaccurate over time. We had just got Blocklist.org setup so we could review all the blocked ranges, but then a month later this happens:(
The last safe backup we have was taken on September 9th, pretty much right before all hell broke loose.
Bluetack may go a bit overkill on who they block on their lists, but they are generally trusted by the community. We'd rather users setup PeerGuardian to use our competitors lists than use possibly unsafe lists from a compromised server.
We setup instructions to switch to the Bluetack lists if anyone is interested.
We keep track of various organizations as best we can. I don't have a link on hand but I do remember a study folks at MIT did (couple years ago) that showed PeerGuardian caused a 75% reduction in fake/corrupt files on Kazaa.
Indeed. We (Methlabs) had an admittedly stupid setup and were working to change it. Obviously, we worked too slow. It's a shame that small groups of friends even have to think of legalities but I guess that's reality.
Anyone have advice on keeping this from happening again, to us or other OSS groups?
As someone who used to be a heavy gamer and still plays in between programming and sleep, I have never played this series. I remember when it came out and have heard it mentioned a few times since then, but never thought it was popular. Anyone in the know mind telling what Myst was about, and why it was so popular?
Some (many?) of the features Vista "rips off" from Tiger were actually announced by Microsoft before Apple. Kinda sad how long it's taken them to get anywhere though. Gives the feeling it took them a few tries and re-writes before they had everything working how they wanted.
The bad thing about beta 1 is that most of the changes are under the hood in the APIs. It's certainly not a good time to compare the user experience.
Text scales well. Images, not so much. Well, unless you work for CSI. So not only does it get ugly, but on some of the bad sites out there that have [images][text][images] columns you can end up with a lot more image than you want.
Testers have been told a number of times that Vista is planned to run on today's average XP machines. My experience is Beta 1 runs at about half the speed of XP

I guess we are in for a much cleaner internet?
Running out of ideas. Heh, you aren't joking. They did the exact same thing on the show Killer Instinct a week ago.

IANAL but wouldn't copyright infringment be a civil matter?
seriously.

Oh well. We'll recover.

Small typo you've got there! The DDK was free with $8 shipping last I checked.

We have finally found a use for the term "Lunix" other than trolling!

Wow, so this means id will have to license it for Doom 3?

Zooming with the scroll wheel also zooms the images. I only want it to zoom text (like Firefox). Anyone know how to change this behavior?

Great.. doesn't work in x64 Edition. Come on Google, get with the times!
no, that was dvorak.
