Well, you read it completely differently than I did. What I think it says is that you can't SELL anything older than 5 years unless it passes modern safety standards. That doesn't mean that you have to throw everything away after five years. You can still use your old 1942 ABC computer to do your homework. You just can't sell it (the computer, that is, not the homework).
There was a story last year about a couple who relied on the navigation system and ran into some trouble on vacation. It seems the last person to use it programmed it to avoid all urban roads, so they got sent into the wilds of NZ.
"We realised we were in trouble. It was just too dark and too narrow and it was dangerous. We were looking down to the bottom of the cliff and at some points couldn't even see the bottom" said Hoiberg.
I always thought Sesamie Street was entertaining and educational. It must have reached me on some level; I still have that 123..4 5...678 910..11 12...song in my head.
It's nice to see decent media starting to report what most people are thinking and saying.
Actually, I think the peoblem is that MOST people aren't thinking about this. It doesn't impact peoples lives in a "missing blond girl" kind of way. They don't know, don't show, or don't care about what goes on in the USPTO.
considering the Japanese pay 5x that for TWO episodes.
Haha. Actualy most people would just rent it here.
My local Tsutaya (like a Japanese Blockbuster) has 1/3 of its second floor devoted to anime. This is seperate from the kids stuff (Disney et al) downstairs. Unfortunately for me 98% is all in Japanese without English subtitles.
You must have listened to a LOT of Japanese. I've lived in Tokyo for 4 years, speak a little Japanese and STILL have trouble hearing the difference. The old and the young are the easiest to hear differences from modern standard Japanese (they even get subtitled on TV).
As an irrelivant asside, the Osaka dialect is often considered a comical, and a lot of the TV comidians use it.

The return of clippy? btw... DO NOT search google for 'clippy.'
...according to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, there are no natural caves or caverns of any size in New York City, the real-world "Gotham."
I always thought that New York was Metropolis and Chicago was Gotham. The architecture fits better that way. Live and learn (useless trivia).
I'm living in Japan and as such, I have two options: either download the newest shows (now via bittorrent, before via IRC) or miss out on it. The American TV we get here is usually 2 or 3 (or more) years older, and there is virtually NO british (or other) tv available. If I could download at $1 a show would I? maybe, for something along the lines of Deadwood or Carnival. I would have to pass on Joey and reality TV.
I was just in Tower Records (books) in Shibuya (Tokyo) and they already have the "no cameras allowed" signs posted.Although this may not be connected to the current article, it sure is a good preemptive move.
The fact the the system encourages over-charging doesn't detract from the fact that it costs WAAAY to much to go to the dentist in the states. I'm currently in Japan, and I had to go to the dentist to get a filling replaced. In and out, painlessly, with GREAT service and at about $80~90.
what you ask for is already here (or, at least, right around the corner)! Try safari 2.0 with it's private browsing (or identity protection) mode. They say it's for 'protecting your identity' when using a public computer, but we all know it's for hiding your porn viewing habits (but I still wonder where to keep the bookmarks).
Checking the archives here at good 'ol slashdot, I found this. The power of chee--- uh, blood. One would suppose that this would be a good sourse of power (at least for the medical applications).
I think that a GPS module would be better than 802.11. Wouldnt it be nice to say "I took this picture here," and be able to map it on your webpage? It is being done (in Japan, of course) with Phone cameras (that have GPS). example. Why not for full SLR cameras? Just embed the info in the EXIF tag.
If you like planes and such, I'd recommend the Airplane Graveyard in Tucson, Arizona. Don't go out of your way or anything, but since you will be visiting the Grand Canyon and Bioshere anyway... you might as well stop in. It's a great place if you are at all interested in aviation, history or aviation history.
Great - now i sound like a commercial.
So there will be 2 types of players in this game, the guys who are really good and make a profit, and the suckers, who lose money while supporting who whole thing. The same concept. Will there be a virtual vegas in the game? joe

Thats because you're drunk then. I always find the 10th beer is pretty good too.

It's a Microsoft spokesman saying it, it MUST be false!

But how many will remember this list when elections come around? Abortions for some, tiny American flags for others! - Kang

Just so we can all be as smart as you.

dang... I was just about to post "From Koh Samui, Thailand." It was part of the daily routine while I was there.

Yep. Replying to my own post, but, after submitting, I found this. Seems someone beat me to the punch. A little expensive at 200,000 yen.

That would be cool and useful.

Ah yes, the 'ol "anti-Circut City/Divx" theory.
"Wait, I have to pay for the disk... and then I have to pay to watch it?"
