True Story (as reported in the May 1968 issue of Playboy)

Some people in Florida sued a church for damages to their houses after a hurricane. The church members claimed they were representatives of God. The Insurance Companies wouldn't pay for damages saying "it was an act of God", so some homeowners sued the church since it represented God.

The judge threw the suit out.

I, like most people, don't have the time/inclination/skill to watch the stock markets everyday, keep up with new financial products, get training on investing/finance/insurance/etc, follow new laws and how they affect taxes/insurance/capital gains/etc.... I highly recommend working with a Financial Planner.

The other advice I have is to hire a Financial Planner. He or she can look at the big picture with investing, savings, finances, insurance, etc. and make sure you have all the bases covered.

    Good Luck!

Put money away pre-tax. This means 401k's and IRAs. This lowers your income, meaning you'll pay less tax to the government. =)

Be sure to check out a RothIRA too. 401k's use pretax money, meaning you haven't paid taxes on it, yet. You will when you take out funds. With a Roth, taxes are paid now, which means all the interest, income, and gains are tax free (along with the principal). Then at retirement you can pull some from your 401k, some from your Roth, and keep your tax liability lower than if it all was taxable.

I went to the SF kickoff today. These are pretty cool. The OS is an enhanced version of XP (you can't win them all) so the average /.'er will hate it without ever having used one. The hand writing recognition wasn't perfect, but it was better than other software I've used on tablet PC's in the past. We were able to hand it from person to person and it had about the same accuracy for each; no tweaking of the PC or the user was needed.

No, these are not for /.'ers. You probably won't get one to admin your network, but insurance adjusters, doctors, field auditors, house inspectors, real estate agents, appraisers, managers overseeing multiple locations, salepeople, etc, etc, etc. could really benefit from these. Basically, most who are mobile for their job.

    Anyway, to answer your questions.

    1. The stylus is magnetic. hover it over the screen to position/move the pointer, or open menu items. Click to select. It actually works pretty well.

    2. I've never used inkwell so I don't know. I'd love it if Apple would come out with a tablet pc. retractable keyboard with writing on the screen for input and Aqua!

    3. All of the units I tried today had a little button on the stylus. Press it down and when you click on the screen it's a right click. Pretty Easy.

    1) while the administratorn (President) can submit a Bill they can not Pass a bill into law, that is the job of Congress.
    3) meanwhile our life term judges... can declare a law unconstitutional forcing congress to change the constitution to pass it.

IIRC, (#3) congress cannot change the constitution but can propose (and draft) an amendment which is presented to the Several States. The amendment becomes part of the Constition when 2/3(?) of the states pass the amendment. They can either put it to a vote of the state's citizens, or the state's legislature can approve the amendment.

Regarding point #1, when the Emergency War Powers Act was passed (IIRC), in times of war (we've been at war since the 1930's with the passage of the act), the president can write an executive order and it is posted in the Federal Register and considered passed as a law. So technically the Pres cannot write laws, but since We're at War (TM), in actuality, the Pres writes a helluva lot of laws. One year I actually checked this out and Clinton had 'written' over 1,000 exec.orders.

We can live without computers, but with increasing patents covering basic food (corn, canola, tomatos, ...), I can see a time when all food will be covered by some patent. Think M$ is evil with their monopoly? Think what would happen when a few companies own patents on most of the food you eat.

Cross contamination of GMO with natural crops is a real concern, and farmers of organic crops are starting to sue GMO producers. Some related articles at cropChoice.com

Monsanto got Fox news in Tampa to pull a story and fire the two jounalists who researched it because it was about health problems from rBGH (Bovine Growth Hormone [a Monsanto product]) in cows milk, and it's been one of the most under reported news stories. func wrote: That's the ticket for me. I can look at germs with a microscope. I can fly to another continent if I really want to. Hell, I can even fly my paraglider any old time the wind is good - how many religions can make you fly?

You can see and hear God first hand. A religion cannot make you fly, but God can make you fly.

It's important to distinguish between God and religion. Religions are how human minds try to understand God, but God cannot be comprehended or understood by thinking and reasoning. So all these arguments about God cannot give you experience and knowledge of God, since they come from our minds which are fallible and limited.

If we could know God through reasoning, then this would be a pretty boring thread since there would be obvious evidence. Since we can't, then what is left? Science! The Science of the Soul. If we accept that science is really about independently verifiable results, then if I can see God, and you (or anyone else) can get the same results, and see God for yourself (not at the level of mind, but as a Soul), then there is a scientific way to find God. And there is. So yes, it is testable and verifiable.

One cannot know and believe something without a first hand experience. And how do we get that experience? We need to find someone who can give us that experience. Someone who has seen God themself and knows the best way to accomplish the task.

Sant Thakar Singh is the one who can give you first hand experience of God, and more information is available at the Sant Mat website, or feel free to e-mail me. (Sant Mat simply means the Holy Path.)

You don't have to take my (or anyone else's) word for it. Try it and verify for yourself.
