    >What about the fact that they sometimes play records that are not only obscure but possibly over 60 years old?

copyright expires over time. This goes for books (Project Gutenberg makes use of this) and also goes for music. when it's old enough it becomes public domain. unfortunately music has changed a lot more than literature has, so not everyone will want to listen to XX year old music.

In what way do children get hurt by knowing gay rights? they get hurt if they do not get told about homsexuality, let alone if they're being brought up thinking homosexuality is some weird disease, or something filthy. Shielding your children from pornography.. fine.. I can understand that, even though I do not agree. As for your point about christian decency: I want children to grow up with decency, not necessarily christian. It wouldn't be the first kid to grow up thinking it is abnormal, filthy and/or just plain sick because he/she turns out to be homosexual or *gasp* bisexual. Think about it. Why do you love someone? Ideally this would be for personality. And can someone of the same sexe as you not have a beautiful personality?

I am sure even a perfect diet wouldn't stop all cases of organ transplantation. There's still accidents (no diet can fix those) and hereditary (sp?) problems. Organ transplants will still be necessary for a long time. It is however true that the 'western' diet isn't the healthiest of diets, but saying diet is a miracle cure? I don't think so. diets can help your health in a major way (don't believe me? live on only french fries for a year, add mayonaise to taste), but they are not cures.

  20. Re:Katz nations - site purpose in URL on Care to Register Your Own TLD? · · Score: 2

I dont think language really should be a problem. only 1 change: give each country 3 TLDs. 1 commercial, 1 for non-profit orgs, 1 general (or maybe another division could be better. I wouldn't know about that) You want to cater for the whole world, thenb you either have an english page, or have your page in several languages. If you want to keep working on a national basis, get your own country's commercial TLD. I however don't think the purpose should necessarily be clear from the URL. It's just an address, there to make it easier to remember. If you need an URL, you look it up somewhere, usually a searchengine. It's exactly the same as a normal address. If you need to find a baker, do you blindly walk over to bakerstreet in hopes of finding one, or do you look in the phonebook/yellow pages/whatever? Finally.. yes, there is a reason for TLDs only being 3 characters: people are lazy. .sucks is still decently fast to type, .isnotfair is quite a bit longer. The shorter your name, the cooler.

patents can cause strange stuff: one of the stranger ones: Kevlar, a very strong aramid fiber. quite a bit stronger in tensile strength than steel. There are 2 manufacturers at the moment (or up to not so long ago). 1 has the patent on kevlar. However, the process for the creation of kevlar involves some pretty hefty chemicals only allowed in laboratory use, not for large-scale production process. The second company has patented an alternative process for Kevlar. Now they both produce the stuff. They decided the best way was to cooperate, for neither could produce kevlar without the other ones consent.
