Snow plows. Granted, you can embed them in a track in between lanes but that gets expensive over large sections of roadway.
Cool idea, though, will probably be most useful in areas that don't get enough snow to warrant plowing.

And at home too... (you'll understand if you're married/shacked up).
If you had any clue about how the railroads, especially in the west, were built you wouldn't have made this statement. The government gave railroads massive land grants to encourage rail expansion. Much of the rail net that was eventually built was due to these land grants. There is no way in hell that this kind of subsidy could exist today. The only thing that comes close is the amount that was spent on highway construction and land acquisition.
Come on, moderators, either respond to a message like this or don't moderate - this needs to be clarified.
There are no inaccessible slots in any Mac, including Powerbooks. There are slots that are more difficult to get to but you can still get to them. The parent comment is utter BULLSHIT.
A little quote from the guy who built the Alien model.
"And it's a tribute to more innocent times, to movies I saw as a child, like Star Wars and Alien."
Um, how old was this guy when he say Alien? I mean, that wouldn't have been a movie I would want my kids to see. At the time I remember it being one of the most damn scary movies I had ever seen...
Does this surprise anyone? Really? Coming from an administration that is loathe to consider government's proper position in regulatory matters I am not surprised that he said this.
Actually, I've a need for an ultra-slim bootable Win OS with a TCP/IP stack to run comms on while gaming in OS X. You see, there are very few cross-platform compatible comms software available. Roger Wilco is, but it's Classic only and kinda bites. This would allow me to run Ventrilo and talk with my clanmates in a low-overhead environment.
How about Medal of Honor: Allied Assault? There isn't a Mac Client for that either...
You mean THIS? Or were you referring to Spearhead? Oh, wait, that's out too: you can find it here. Granted the Pacific theatre expansion pack isn't out yet.
Get your smack tight. Next time you're going to use an example like that make sure you're correct. Because if you're not it just makes you look bad...
Those were the 500 MHz G4 Graphite towers. Moto couldn't get the chips in supply so apply lowered the spec to 450 MHz amid howls of protest from users.
I do believe the line was stuck at 450 MHz and then 500 MHz for about 10 months - a really bad situation. This pushed Apple to go with the Dual machines.
And that's an important distinction. Because I remember from an NPR piece about a similar case wasn't over whether or not an individual can do this editing themselves but whether a corporation can do it and resell it.
THAT is probably not legal. Selling software that'll control your DVD player? Probably...
Since Pres. Carter was a Democrat he was painted as a southern hayseed for it instead of an idiot as Pres. Bush get's libeled.
Gee, I don't know... Let's look at the accomplishements, shall we?
Carter: recevied BS from US Naval Academy in 1946. Did graduate work in Nuclear Physics. Worked up to Lieutanant under Rickover and helped with the development of the US Navy nuclear submarine force. Retired from the Navy in '53, ran family farm. Camp David Accord, Panama Canal Treaty, reestablishment of relations with PRC, SALT II. Deregulated energy, transportation, communications, and finance sectors. Author of 16 books. Nobel Peace Price winner, 2002. More info here.
Bush, G.W.: BS, Yale University 1968. Served in Texas Air National Guard as pilot. MBA, Harvard University 1975. Started own energy company, was part-owner of Texas Rangers baseball franchise. Sucessful miltary engagements in Afganistan and Iraq; cut federal tax rate - twice. More info here.
I'll slip into troll-territory here but Bush is well-known for getting poor grades at Yale and getting into Harvard Business School via family connections. To me the comparison between Carter and Bush transcends this simple argument though; one is a tireless nobel peace prize winner, the other a former baseball team owner. 'Nuff said.
So if you used Apples service, and download 10 songs a month that you later decide arent worth keeping, then you just broke even.
But if you had actually USED the iTunes music service (or perhaps even READ about it - *SHOCK HORROR* research here on/.??!?) you would know that you can listen to 30 seconds of each song at the iTunes music service FOR FREE.
No need to pay anything and you can check out those kewl new Linkin Park songs that your friends keep telling you about.
You will also want to check out the radmind tools. It's as close to a tripwire system as you can get in OS X (grrr... prebinding!) and will maintain lab machines and employee workstations exactly as you like.
Another good resource is Mac OS X Labs. Full of good information about this sort of stuff.
Seems like they are getting it finally. i wonder if apple is really successful the music industry will go like "hey, why give Apple thos 15 cents a song" we can sell songs on our own!!"
I would wager that Apple has obtained exclusive distribution rights for internet music sales for a defined time period (a year, two years, etc.). If they hadn't then they are just pissing their money away in development for others.
Costs are shifted from licensing to support, but net costs often do not fall.
What would be better for a taxing authority: job creation (support costs rise due to more sysadmins needed for conversion and future support) resulting in more employment and more local tax revenue OR purchasing software produced in another non-local tax authority resulting in no gain whatsoever to the local economy?
Also, I believe your increased support costs claim to be somewhat dubious...

My Griffin Technologies PowerMate has been telling me the computer load by increasing or decreasing the flash rate for over a year now.
/. news?
And this is worthy of front-page

Any app where you can Zippy the Pinhead to talk to a psychologist crosses the line into OS-hood for me...
